* EnjoyTheStorySkipTheGame: A very weird case of this. The gameplay is perfectly playable, but it becomes this due to how damn bleak the game gets, even if it's ultimately trying to be optimistic. Many people don't feel comfortable playing a game where everyone other than your TrueCompanions will hate you no matter what you do, and because it's very hard to do a roleplay session under those parameters, it's one of the least played games in ''World of Darkness's''' line-up outside of ''TabletopGame/WraithTheOblivion''. However, while many people find playing the games themselves unfun, the story, worldbuilding and lore of the titular [[FrankensteinsMonster Prometheans]] are universally regarded as fascinating, painting an excellent portrayal of the homunculi monster trope in full flesh while being on ''paper'' [[EarnYourHappyEnding a really good potential roleplay story]].

* CompleteMonster: [[NuclearNasty Oleg Wormwood]], [[TheMafiya Ukrainian mobster]] and would-be bringer of the apocalypse, is unlike most evil Prometheans who are motivated by years of torment they have received at the hands of regular mortals. Created at the time of the UsefulNotes/{{Chernobyl}} disaster, Oleg witnessed the meltdown, and, despite having a relatively good life by Promethean standards, desired to replicate it across the face of the world. Joining the Ukrainian, and then Russian branches of The Mafiya, Oleg killed numerous men--and gave large numbers of prostitutes cancer--in the process of making a name for himself, all while building up the connections and resources he would need to achieve his dream. He has purchased plutonium for terrorist causes, stirred up trouble between [[UsefulNotes/TheIndoPakistanConflict India and Pakistan]], and otherwise done everything he can to manipulate the world's leaders into creating the [[NukeEm nuclear holocaust]] that he so desperately craves. Emotionally hollow, and incapable of remorse, Oleg has no desire to ever be human, viewing mortals as nothing but tools to aid him in triggering the apocalypse.

Uncanny Valley is IUEO now and the subjective version has been split; cleaning up misuse and ZCE in the process

Requires commercial failure or other objective evidence audiences were put off. Also require the problems be known before the work released.

* AudienceAlienatingPremise:
** ''Promethean'' has a very niche appeal at best, with its premise of "you're an ArtificialHuman whom all of reality rejects, so your only goal in life is to BecomeARealBoy" and punishing rules in support of it.
** Second Edition softens these rules a bit, or rather it gives options to keep them from driving every player to hack at her wrists with a sharp spork.

Not really related since Detroit's a real city anyway

* HilariousInHindsight: The City associated with Prometheans is Detroid as in ''VideoGame/DetroitBecomeHuman''
