* BaseBreaker: Ash himself for some. Some see him as a one-man SpotlightStealingSquad or you see it as natural for him to be commanding {{Physical God}}s as the movie's main protagonist.

* TheyJustDidntCare: A common criticism is that the movie prioritizes legendary {{fanservice}} over making a good, compelling film. This shows with often repetitive dialogue, an epic battle with no real tension or consequences for the cast, and a [[spoiler:(literal)]] DeusExMachina ending.

* MostAnnoyingSound: "Were you surprised?" No, Hoopa. Not really. Not when you keep saying it over and over and over again.

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter: Lugia shows up early on, gets thrown out of the movie before it can even take part in the Kerfuffle of Legends, and is never mentioned again. You're almost left to wonder why it was even brought in at all.
** Arceus. All he really does is act as a literal Main/{{Deus ex Machina}} .

* BlackHoleSue: Ash. He suddenly gains way more spotlight than his sorry companions and even Hoopa's childhood friends by fighting the BigBad of the movie using Mega Evolved Legendaries on his side without ever using his reserves (only Frogadier is used...and left to do background stuff with the others). Although it is justified that he's the only one who gets to be on the action, this movie multiplies that to ungodly levels not seen before that would have made sense if it hadn't been for the fact that his progress as a trainer is constantly reset and never alluded to many times.
