** The series' large following among fans of the shotacon (manga with young boys) genre, related as it is to several instances where interactions between Galko and younger boys were interpreted as romantically-charged, did not take it well to finding out that the creator might, in-fact, be an actual pedophile and was in possession of child pornography.

* TheScrappy: To a certain contingent of fans, [[{{Otaku}} Otako's brother.]] In a series filled with characters who [[HiddenDepths buck stereotypes]] while [[AffectionateParody still playing with the conventions]], Otako's brother seems to take every stereotype about [[BasementDweller shut-in nerds]] (obsessed with porn, no social skills, etc.) and play it straight, but without any positive traits to balance it out. Add in his DoggedNiceGuy attitude towards Galko's sister, a very popular supporting character, and you've got a recipe for a Scrappy.

* {{Ephebophilia}}: The delivery man, possibly. After delivering a package, which Galko receives [[ShamelessFanserviceGirl half dress and crawling on all fours]], he beats himself up over the fact that he didn't [[PizzaBoySpecialDelivery invite himself in.]] Remember: Galko is only in ''high school''.
** His female roommate is even worse, as she shamelessly brags to him and her drinking buddies of [[PerverseSexualLust her lust for the bellybuttons of teenage girls.]] She even goes so far as to [[TheTease tease him]] over [[SeriousBusiness how many more cute girls she see's half naked on a daily basis]] at her job compared to him -- she's the head nurse at Galko's school. * ValuesDissonance: One of Galko's sister's drinking buddies [[EveryoneWentToSchoolTogether (also the delivery man's roommate)]] mentions that the real reason she's a school nurse is because she [[{{Ephebophilia}} loves teenage girl's navels]], and working at a high school gives her plenty of [[MemeticMolester opportunities]]. Needless to say, in a Western series, such a revelation would not be PlayedForLaughs; Galko's sister would be perfectly justified in disowning her friend, especially considering that her own sister attends the school where said friend works. In the manga, she doesn't seem to mind, and treats it as little more than one of her quirks.
