** Many fans speculated that the tentative release date would be in June because of a Konami-style easter egg on the site. (If one were to type "magic" while on the site, the layout would switch to a Moonside-esque colour scheme. One would have had to type in "June" to turn it back to normal. This function no longer exists.)
** When the devs noted there was going to be a big announcement on 3/1/17, many correctly guessed they were going to rebrand the game into an original I.P., given the record of what has happened with other Nintendo fangames at the time.

We are going our 4th year since this current incarnation of the game started development. It being in development for only 2 years in its current form is very outdated and that section felt unnecessarily combative. T Lo FJ example stood well on its own without that note, especially now.

* TheLawOfFanJackassery: Seems to be at the peak point, mostly thanks to the infamous video claiming it's coming out in Winter 2014. Before the video, comments were mostly supportive. After the video caused the game to gain a wider audience, suddenly there seems to be a large group attempting to turn this game into the next ''VideoGame/DukeNukemForever''. [[note]]It should be noted as well that the game's current state has only existed for two or so years now. Despite this, this isn't stopping people from exaggerating the development time based on the previous versions of the game when it was only being worked on by one-three people at most.[[/note]]

The edit prior to the previous one clearly explains that the Never Live It Down trope is the one that is used for characters, not real-world developers or real-world events.

NLID is for things characters do. Since this is a meta example, there's a 25 year waiting period.

* NeverLiveItDown: This game's [[{{Vaporware}} rather lengthy development history]] has caused many people to start claiming it to be the ''VideoGame/DukeNukemForever'' of Main/TheNewTens and Main/TheNewTwenties. In particular, their [[ScheduleSlip botched winter 2014 release date]] has received a lot of criticism, and the general perfectionist nature of the devs in regards to seemingly sweating small details such as updating already good looking sprites and other such pixel art in the game has caused some to not have much confidence in them when it comes to actually getting the game done; despite the fact that they claim to have a ''very'' strict guideline in order to ''prevent'' this exact thing from happening.

* {{Adorkable}}: Floyd's character has shades of an UpperClassTwit, but his naivety in regards to the normal world and often being on the receiving end of most of the teaser trailers' humor has quickly cemented him as this trope for many of the game's fanbase.

* SugarWiki/AwesomeArt: The pixel art is top-notch. There's also a surprising amount of attention to detail with it. Quite a few buildings allow you to look in and see certain rooms, and there's a lot of minor things you likely won't notice until further playthroughs.
* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic:
** So far even with little information of what is going to be in the game and where its music will play, there are already quite a few catchy music tracks that have been revealed and made for the game. ** Each character has their own level up tune and when characters are leveling up simultaneously the themes make the song "larger". [[http://youtu.be/-qtQWUF6-Co?t=3m4s Awesome music indeed.]]
* EnsembleDarkhorse: A lot of people are hyped about the [[EnergyBeings Modern]] [[BadassInANiceSuit Mind]], despite having only appeared in a single trailer thus far.

* MemeticLoser: Floyd seems to be gaining this representation in the fandom, due to him being dragged along in the gameplay trailer. This meme seems to have caught on with the Dev team, as the game's AttractMode shows the direct inverse with Travis being dragged behind Floyd. Somehow, it makes Floyd seem more like a ButtMonkey to the fans than he already was with them.
* MemeticMutation:
** ''Mother 4ever'' is gaining more and more popularity as the development process goes on, mostly by those who view this game as the next ''VideoGame/DukeNukemForever''. Similarly, "Mother takes 4 ever" is also a similar snowclone based on the infamous ''Duke Nukem takes forever'' meme.

* NightmareFuel: Arguably [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-fNbJIl_Mkg the teaser]], since its sound effects are unsettling and the music goes from somewhat creepy to [[SensoryAbuse very evil-sounding]]. However, [[FridgeBrilliance this was probably their intention]].
* SerialNumbersFiledOff: The game began life and went most of its development as a [[FanSequel fanmade MOTHER game.]] However, after several months of silence from the developers, it was revealed that the game would be going through heavy rebranding to avoid legal issues.
