Worse is a number of fellow faculty members sneering at him. And judging by his reactions after the speech, he knows full well about everything mentioned.
** Jesse learns that Dean made a suicide attempt in the past. When he talks to him before heading back to New York, Dean opens up that he grew up without his father and recounts how his StrugglingSingleMother would be proud of him for being in college.
** Prof. Hoberg begging the school head, his former protegee, to allow him to come out of retirement and failing.
** [[spoiler: Jesse and Zibby falling out. Zibby's heartbreak after Jesse rejects her is hard to watch.
