* CreatorsPet: Despite being a frequent ButtMonkey, some have accused Polnareff of being this. In ''Manga/JojosBizarreAdventureStardustCrusaders'' he was accused of [[SpotlightStealingSquad taking up a lot of screen time]], almost even more than Jotaro, that could be spent developing other characters. Then there's the fact that he's [[spoiler: the only non Jojo to survive the events of this part.]] [[spoiler: This just further increased in ''Manga/JojosBizarreAdventureGoldenWind'' where, despite not even playing a major role until the end of the part, he survives yet again [[FreakyFridayFlip (well, sorta)]], while main characters Abbacchio, Narancia, and Bucciarati are brutally killed.]]

By some miracle, these fans are just now learning about those aforementioned facts concerning Dio as they're revealed in the anime.

Up To Eleven is a defunct trope

** ''Battle Tendency'' was where the series went from unintentionally over-the-top, to not only embracing it, but cranking it UpToEleven. It's also where the series' penchant for fights based more on intelligence and clever tricks truly started. Granted, there were a few moments like that in the previous part, usually revolving around Dio, but the sequel went full bore on it by turning the protagonist into a full-on GuileHero and making almost everyone he goes up against not just NighInvulnerable, but extremely clever as well. In an interesting parallel, ''[=JoJo=]'s Bizarre Adventure: The Animation'' also got noticeably better during this part of the adaptation due to an increase in budget, allowing for more character movement, and a larger number of episodes dedicated to it, allowing for better pacing. It allowed the viewer to feel more emotionally invested in the characters.

Due to the anime adaptations bringing in a large number of new viewers who don't read the manga, which on some occasions do reference things that were seemingly forgotten, the meme went from a mostly just used for jokes, to being used as legitimate criticism of the writing from some viewers. Nowadays, saying "Araki forgot" earns a lot of scorn from the community, and the joke largely is avoided by many older viewers.

The top picks for each part seem to be Jonathan/Dio, Joseph/Caesar, Jotaro/Kakyoin, Josuke/Okuyasu (in Western countries) or Josuke/Rohan (in Eastern countries), Giorno/Mista, Jolyne/Ermes and Johnny/Gyro.
** The only major exception to this trend would be Josuke/Yasuho, due to Yasuho essentially serving as the "[=JoBro=]" of her part in addition to being the love interest, as well as their endearing and well-written chemistry together. It helps that the next closest contender for "[=JoBro=]", Joshu, is hugely divisive.
** Besides that, Diego/Hot Pants, Rohan/Reimi, and Bucciarati/Trish seem to be the most popular non-canon straight ships in the fandom.

** Stands are often referred to as "punch ghosts" for reasons that should be fairly obvious.
** The companions are occasionally referred to as "Jobros" for their close relationship to their part's Joestar, in particular whichever given character in a part had the closest friendship with the associated [=JoJo=] (ie Speedwagon, Gyro).
** Fans sometimes call the color scans "[=JoJo's=] Colored Adventure".
** Jotaro's post-''Stardust Crusaders'' appearances in parts 4-6 are known as "[[WesternAnimation/TheSpongeBobSquarePantsMovie Ocean]] [[{{Music/Ween}} Man]]" due to him having studied and gotten a degree in marine biology.

** The only major exception to this trend would be Josuke/Yasuho, due to their endearing and well-written chemistry together. It helps that Joshu, the considered "[=JoBro=]" of Part 8, is heavily disliked by fans.

** It's While nothing hints at it overtly compared to the AmbiguouslyBi Jolyne, it's common even for people who don't engage in slash shipping to take it for granted that Joseph is bisexual. This possibly stems comes from a mix of reasons including ''Battle Tendency'' being particularly high in MachoCamp, Joseph's surprising casualness towards homosexuality during a time when it was quite heavily stigmatized (albeit mostly in the [[DubText dub]]), his intense [[HoYay interactions interactions]] with his companion, Caesar.]]{{Heterosexual Life Partner|s}} Caesar, and at least one QueerPeopleAreFunny gag with Avdol in ''Stardust Crusaders''.

* {{Starboarding}}: Speedwagon → Jonathan. Speedwagon's extraordinary devotion to Jonathan is obviously very commonly interpreted as HoYay, but Jonathan ends up in an OfficialCouple with Erina, and [[spoiler:gets killed by Dio on the first night of their honeymoon]], so there's no way that a relationship between the two can fit in canon. Because of this, fans commonly interpret Speedwagon as having a one-sided crush on Jonathan, [[IWantMyBelovedToBeHappy supporting his relationship with Erina]] despite the heartbreak. This is further supported by ''Manga/BattleTendency'''s epilogue, which states that [[spoiler:Speedwagon died of a heart attack at an old age, while having never married ("[[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/He_never_married he never married]]" was used in England as an euphemism for homosexuality)]], implying that Speedwagon was never able to move on from his feelings for Jonathan.

** Caesar → Joseph. While they make for the FanPreferredCouple of this part, it's also quite common to portray their dynamic as a case of conventional HeterosexualLifePartners but with one-sided attraction from Caesar towards Joseph (itself lampshaded in-universe by Messina, who thinks Caesar has a crush on him), with Joseph being oblivious until it's too late.

* StarTrekMovieCurse: At least [[AmericansHateTingle in the west]], the odd-numbered parts of the original continuity tend to be more contentious than the even-numbered ones. ''Phantom Blood'' is notably shorter than its successors (to the point where it doesn't even occupy ''half'' of the anime adaptation's first season) and [[EarlyInstallmentWeirdness hardly feels like JJBA]] while ''Stardust Crusaders'' and ''Golden Wind'' are criticized for being an endless string of repetitive MonsterOfTheWeek fights. Their respective protagonists tend to be less well-regarded by fans, with Jonathan's IdealHero traits being regarded as bland, Jotaro being a NinetiesAntiHero whose JerkAss traits have significant portions of the Western audience outright [[BaseBreakingCharacter despising]] him, and Giorno, are also [[BaseBreakingCharacter divisive]] among fans, with Jotaro being accused of being a generic and considered a boring lead who is overshadowed by everyone else. ''Battle Tendency'' and ''Diamond Is Unbreakable'', meanwhile, are almost universally regarded by western fans as the best parts in the original series for their ability to refine their direct predecessors' formulas, and while ''Stone Ocean'' tends to be overlooked compared to other parts, Western fans tend to respond to it with general praise as well for its efforts at tackling deeper themes and character development (though its ending sees more mixed reception). All three protagonists in these even-numbered parts (Joseph, Josuke, and Jolyne, respectively) also frequently butt heads among fans for the distinction of the series' best protagonist, with each one of them being praised for their in-depth and memorable characterization.

** The ContinuityReboot of the series, meanwhile, inverts this. ''Steel Ball Run'' is near-universally regarded as the greatest work in the entire ''franchise'' for its emotional depth, morally complex characters, gorgeous artwork, and ability to consolidate an action-heavy series with heavily introspective and metaphysical themes. Meanwhile, ''JoJolion'' is incredibly divisive for its slow-burning and convoluted plot, with many accusing series author Creator/HirohikoAraki of [[WritingByTheSeatOfYourPants making everything up on the fly]] even more than usual, and for having artwork that sometimes suffers from OnlySixFaces and DullSurprise.

Removing as the dubs are generally accepted as fine, and not bad.

* SoBadItsGood: How many view the accents in the Phantom Blood and Battle Tendency dubs, which are... inauthentic at best.
