** Shiori Novella were often branded so due to her comparatively bizarre tendencies, including bringing up cannibalism as chat topic and eating with scissors. Overtime the perception evolved more into viewing it as oddity instead of psychopathic.

** An downplayed example could be made for Calliope Mori of Hololive Myth. While popular worldwide (With 2.37 million subscribers as of May 2024), she seems especially highly regarded in Japan, leading to her making music for One Piece, Metal Gear and Suicide Squad Anime as well as collaborating with famous Japanese artists such as Reol and Zutomayo.

** A downplayed example is Aqua, who's artist keep giving her bigger busts but refusing to draw her taller.

** Kiara and Gura's casual outfits both give them distinct cat motifs. While Kiara is more {{downplayed|trope}} due to establishing herself as changing from a phoenix to a cat, Gura is more perplexing since she still retains the shark motif alongside it.

** Yozora Mel's [[https://archive.ragtag.moe/watch?v=uzbe_Ra0l_I stream talking about her colleagues and her future plans with them]] being her final stream right before her immediate retirement announcement. [[YMMV This seems to be her intention, aware of the termination notice beforehand and wish to celebrate her colleagues and the good times they had together.]]

** Jurard T Rexford from Holostars ARMIS, who has garnered a universal reputation as a "boyfailure". Jurard constantly boasting a big game but [[SmallNameBigEgo almost never being able to deliver on his words]], whether it's winning at games (against either viewers or other talents) or just experiencing waves of misfortune in real life (esp. his trip to Japan, where he would endlessly get lost), have led to endless boyfailure allegations that he is never able to dispel.

** Given that ID, EN, and the short lived China branches were all created due to the very high number of non-japanese hololive fans, it should come as no surprise that these cute little anime girls, and boys, tend to attract some very diverse crowds. This is in no small part because of the dedicated clipping community who takes interesting moments in hours long streams and cuts them down to bite size segments and most importantly subs them in various languages. Of the various branches Hololive Indonesia takes the cake of most fans outside their intended demographic. This is helped by the majority of the ID talents being very fluent in English as well as collabing the most with other branches and even non-hololive creators.

* PopCultureIsolation: [=AZKi=] is actually one of the more popular original talents... as a musician. Gaming content isn't (and has never been) a focus of hers, and her sub count is among the lowest in Hololive, since the fanbase does not translate the same way. On the other hand, she's quite popular and respected domestically. There's a reason, after all, she was able to organize several music programs involving hundreds of [=VTubers=].

** Inafi for Ina and Iofi. Similarly, it's their official ship name and fanart hashtag, though their chats insist on [=ErofIna=] (Erofi+Ina).

** Begni for Bettel and Magni, though their official collab name is ABC (Apple, Banana, Cherry).

** Jutai for Jurard and Octavio.

** Given her {{Bifauxnen}} looks, one could be forgiven for thinking Ao was a member of Holostars.

** Former Holostars, Kira and Kaoru, have very feminine looks which can make others mistook them as Hololive members. Though Kaoru can easily debunk this given how low his voice is. Meanwhile, Kira has a higher voice pitch which adds more confusion.

* FanMyopia: After Aloe's sudden and unfortunate graduation, it wasn't uncommon to find fans who couldn't let go and move on even months after it happened despite her brief tenure. Perhaps the biggest example can be seen in the assumption that any talent covering "Happy Synthesizer" ''must'' have been in tribute to Aloe. Iofi's cover of the song with Pochi used to be flooded with posts mourning Aloe and the former top comment one that chided the community at large for doing so instead of celebrating Iofi's 6th month anniversary. When Kiara did a watchalong for hololive 2nd fes, the overwhelming majority of chat quickly shifted from excitement for Noel and Flare's duet to tearful emojis crying out for Aloe rather than focus on the work they put into their performance.

*** Building more on the JP Idol culture's reaction to male/female interactions we can see this pretty heavily in the way the JP fans and talents treat Holostars compared to EN and ID. While Cover Corp has no restriction on male/female interaction, there is virtually no interaction between Hololive JP and Holostars outside of special events, and the Hololive JP talents that do are a minority[[labelnote:The talents in question]]Sora, Fubuki, Matsuri, Roboco, Subaru, Suisei, Choco, Towa, Polka, Mel, La+, Akirose, Ayame, Lui, and the [=ReGLOSS=] members[[/labelnote]]. EN fares somewhat better, with a higher proportion of talents interacting with the Stars, but still remaining a minority to those who do not (with some who won't so much as acknowledge them) -- a matter complicated by occasional {{Flame War}}s & related pushbacks from trolls and particularly rabid fans. All but one of the ID girls (Kaela, who as of the ID branch's fourth anniversary in 2024, has had zero interaction with any of the Stars), by complete contrast with both, have been frequently collaborating with the boys since the beginning of the branch with almost zero complaints. The very few times someone tries to make a stink out of it they are mercilessly mocked by both the talents and the fanbase. That said things are slowly changing with the JP branch, with more and more collabs happening everyday as hardcore idol culture is beginning to be looked down on as toxic, not to mention Stars themselves growing more and more popular.

** The ambiguously named [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lvg4SUna5xw "Prelude"]] was seen by many as a "lore" video expanding on [=IRyS's=] backstory, and gained a silly [[CargoCult cult for "The Cube"]] over anything. A couple weeks later, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BOWi6Pclr48 "Omen"]] debuted, starting a cult for "The Orb"... until the end of the video revealed the silhouettes of the 2nd English generation.

** Due to Haachama's long hiatus conflicting with the preparations for 5th fes, she wasn't present on the concert's lineup when it was announced in October 2023 and no adjustments were made to the schedule up to the day of the concert. So imagine the utter shock and uproarious cheer when Haachama suddenly showed up on stage singing ''[[Music/{{Yoasobi}} Idol]]''. "World's Strongest Idol", indeed.

*** Her [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WF4GQQg00bI 3D debut retrospective]] has her claim she was getting scolded repeatedly by staff members over her earpiece for all of her "un-idol-like movements" (read: deliberate panty shots and insisting she [[VaporWear wasn't wearing any]] in real life).

*** Accidentally getting locked out of his Website/{{Twitter}} account (due to putting his birth year as 2020).

** Ditto with Towa's [[https://youtu.be/2D0B3wTjE20 "brilliant"]], which has a lot more views and comments than the [[https://youtu.be/RboUC86iVWw original]] by Music/{{VOCALOID}} producer niki with Lily. Search the song on Website/YouTube, and viewers will find Towa's version being almost as relevant as the original as though it were a Towa original even though it's actually a cover.

** Coco's main source of humor comes from subject matter so blatantly against Website/YouTube Terms of Service that it rolls back over into funny. Unsurprisingly, it's also the reason why she gets frequently banned from [=YouTube=].

** Fubuki's Website/{{Vine}}-like covers of songs used in Western memes have, unsurprisingly, gained the affection of many English fans. Fubuki herself is aware of her reputation overseas as "the Meme Queen" but claims to be confused as to why her fans think of her that way.

** There's a group of Hololive fans who are also ProfessionalWrestling fans, as they can appreciate the similarities that Hololive (and Vtubers in general) have with pro wrestling characters. The biggest expression of this is the [=HoloFightZ=] Website/{{Twitch}} stream account, where they use one of the ''VideoGame/WWEVideoGames'' to simulate a federation of Hololive talents made through the Create-A-Wrestler mode. This link got even stronger when Miko got a hold of ''WWE [=2K22=]'' and made her own versions of the talents, getting gigantic view counts for her streams (not to mention the resulting clips).

** Newcomers to the Vtuber community may sometimes associate hololive as the one that popularized the trend of [[InnocentSwearing Vtubers swearing]] and shouting the [[ClusterFBomb F-word]], especially since the hololive girls' videos appear first when you search "swearing vtubers" on Website/YouTube and Website/{{Google}}. The community also has a "FAQ!" catchphrase for it, as popularized by Sakura Miko. This trend actually predates hololive since WebAnimation/KizunaAi was infamous for her [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FyFYH-7Ody0&t=14m56s "FAKKYU!" catchphrase]] from a 2017 playthrough of ''VideoGame/ResidentEvil7''.

*** Talking about a talent's past streamer personas and/or the voice actors is guaranteed to spark a debate wherever it happens, even for people who otherwise have no ill intent. This largely stems from streaming culture in Japan (particularly on Website/NicoNicoDouga), where privacy is valued more by their streamers compared to Western ones, to the point where full face masks are a common sight even with streamers who regularly appear on camera. The difference is more obvious with the English branch, who are pretty nonchalant about their past personas off-stream, with some of them even still following their old accounts on Twitter. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GHOyVjcUfRM Calli in particular]] finds "you're about to accidentally dox yourself" chat comments well-intentioned, but needlessly distressing, and she flat out states "most of you already know what I look like in real life anyway". The amount of backlash in associating who used to be who [[https://www.reddit.com/r/VirtualYoutubers/comments/ivbxpz/its_public_info_its_not_a_valid_excuse_to_share/ largely depends on who's the topic of discussion]], with opinions running the gamut between "It's basically doxxing, respect their privacy" to "it's public information, so it should be shared around". One thing's for certain on all sides of the debate, though -- bringing any of this up in the middle of a talent's stream is considered very rude.

** Vtubing as a whole has always been more oriented toward older men as the main demographic, but they have also garnered a smaller but just as dedicated fanbase of women, to the point that even someone like [[ShamelessFanserviceGirl Houshou Marine]] can boast about having a 17% female audience. Calli, in particular, is very popular with women, and she has a 37% female viewership. In fact, a lot of the later generations have noted they were huge fans before joining. This a big part of why Holostars became a thing at all.

** Holostars' initial target audience was meant to be female, but around 40% of fans ended up being male. Some Holostars members like Roberu and Aruran actually have more male viewers than female.

** South Korean vlogger [[https://www.youtube.com/@hwikkyOG/featured hwikky]] is known in the English and Indonesian fandom, and even some of the members like Ollie and Zeta, for his videos giving non-Koreans a peak into his country's Hololive community.

** [=HanaKashi=] for Miyabi and Temma.

** Gura Gawr, who hits everyone else with CutenessProximity whenever others watch or talk to her. This extends to her fellow talents, particularly her Japanese Senpais who endlessly dote on her for how cute she is.

** Fuwawa and Mococo Abyssgard, or FUWAMOCO, have been described as practically weaponized cuteness with their puppy-like mannerisms, endearing verbal tics, and close relationship with each other along with their tendency to talk in sync. The JP talents in particular ''adore'' them and have frequently expressed maternal or sisterly instincts towards them, or even physical pain from how cute they are.

* DesignatedHeroes: A PlayedForLaughs example. Quite a few fans like to treat HoloTEMPUS as a group of these due to various members' less-than-upstanding character traits (such as Altare's [[SoftSpokenSadist sadistic streak]], Magni's moral ambiguity and penchant for [[HonestJohnsDealership cons]] and/or experimenting on his guild mates, Hakka's BloodKnight tendencies and Flayon's increasingly dark secrets) despite the fact the group are supposed to be heroes. This has become even more prevalent after the reveal of the more properly-villainous ARMIS.

** As [=EVO=] 2023 and prolific creators like Koefficient have shown, there is an oddly large overlap between the UsefulNotes/FightingGameCommunity and hololive. In the 2024 Capcom Cup, one of the biggest fighting game tournaments in the world, the Winner, Uma, wore Mio's 1 million subscribers celebration hoodie, ironically the prize for the tournament was 1 million dollars.

** Fubuki's [[https://www.reddit.com/r/Hololive/comments/nnjeb9/hifriends_mofumofu/ furry self-portrait]] on the hololive [[Website/{{Reddit}} subreddit]] drew some concern from some of its regular posters, as they've noticed people accusing Fubuki of being on the "overtly sexual" side of the UsefulNotes/FurryFandom (especially after getting featured on Reddit's front page), despite her related Tweet insisting otherwise by explicitly separating "furry" and "ero-furry". This is mainly due to the American furry community getting ''extremely'' bad press in the late 90's and the first couple decades of the 2000's, with news coverage of them usually stating that there was no difference between the furry and ero-furry communities, even accusing the furry community of widespread ''orgies'' (yes, for real). Getting accused of (or worse ''proof of'') being a furry was a death knell to your social life. Only recently has this view started to weaken somewhat.

** Toby Fox is a fan of Kanata. Yes, ''[[VideoGame/{{Undertale}} that]]'' Creator/TobyFox. Kanata caught his attention during her playthrough of ''Undertale'', where her rollercoaster of emotions [[https://twitter.com/dailytobytrivia/status/1769773664780575160 inspired him to compose a song about angels, struggle, and hope,]] which ultimately became [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kb-Le_XFrtk Fallen Wing.]]

** In mid-January 2024, Mumei briefly returned from her break to do a karaoke stream, before announcing that she would be extending her break for the next few weeks. Viewers speculated that she taking extra time off to take care of her friend, [[WebAnimation/{{Nijisanji}} Selen Tatsuki]], who had a few weeks earlier been hospitalized and was subsequently recovering at home, with one user [[https://danbooru.donmai.us/posts/7128566?q=oguma_shiro drawing artwork]] depicting such a scenario. A few weeks later in early February, and the day after Selen was fired from her company, Selen's actress would [[https://twitter.com/dokibird/status/1754821248834806268 confirm]] that she had been visited by Mumei some time in the past few weeks. Accordingly, the fan artist would [[https://danbooru.donmai.us/posts/7188134 draw another piece of art]], which included both Selen's and Mumei's indie personas in the artwork, depicting this event.
