This entry completely misrepresents the overall point of the video. Hbomb didn't target anyone for making honest mistakes in their citations — he explicitly went after content creators who had spent years intentionally passing off other people's work as their own for monetary gain. Also, that other video is clearly a comedy skit and does not reflect the creator's actual feelings.

* ParanoiaFuel: If you've ever worked on essays, papers, academic material, or anything else that relies on doing research about a topic, watching ''Plagiarism and You(Tube)'' is a good way to give yourself anxiety on whether or not your research citations were sufficient, and failing that, opening the potential that (if you've already submitted/published it) someone may notice at any moment, just like what's happened to the plagiarists Hbomb discussed. Even if you know your sources are listed, a core point the video makes is that acknowledging the existence of the source material isn't sufficient; one needs to make it very clear what work or ideas are theirs and what's someone else's, so there will always be a lingering thought of "did I make it clear enough". [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=arnBPG4Z19s This video]] reflects the opinion from the online content creator side, with many commenters agreeing that it's nerve-wracking to constantly think about.

Even funnier, numerous people thought that it wasn't an edit, and that it was just Hbomberguy's actual response to Somerton's apology, because of ''just how accurately it got it.''

As per the Hindsight Discussion thread, we decided that this entry repeats things already covered by other entries, and that the third bullet isn't really Hindsight.

** During the Filip section of the plagiarism video, Hbomb criticized all three of Filip apology video for being insincere, lying, using language that makes it seem what he did happened to him by magic, painting the people looking into him as the real bad guys, trying to gain sympathy from the viewers, and not mentioning or apologizing for many of the proven things he did. After setting to private or deleting his enter online presence, James Somerton uploaded a now deleted apology where he opens the video claiming to have attempted suicide, never actually uses the word plagiarism/plagiarized, claims that all the other allegation videos came out after Hbomb video are all lies, says Hbomb's video is true, but he didn't plagiarize as much as Hbomb claims, says that he didn't write all the hateful comments about straight and/or white women throughout his videos, and then says he thinks he should turn the videos back on to try to give the people he stole from the money from the videos and says that he still wants to make videos. Essentially, James did every last thing Filip pulled in his apology videos. Opening the video talking about his alleged suicide attempt was especially criticized as, at best, James is burying the lead and using a deeply personal incident that has nothing to do with the allegations to potentially get sympathy from the viewers and shame Hbomb and others for bringing this stuff to light, and at worst, James might even be making this up.
*** In his apology video, when he claims that he didn't write anything of the misogynistic things he said, he then very quickly says that he's not throwing Nick under the bus. Many have speculated that this was James' attempt to set up Nick as a fall guy (just as Hbomb predicted) for his misogyny while pretending like he isn't.
*** Even after all this, James released ''yet another'' apology video, called "A Measured Response". He admits to plagiarism and says he will put plagiarism-free videos back up to give revenue to people he stole from. However, he spends most of the video dancing around the plagiarism to yet again bring on a pity party by talking about all the trauma in his life that led to either him plagiarizing or his projects falling through. He says he had a traumatic brain injury that led him to forgetting when passages he took from other people to build on/change made it into the scripts he wrote. He even says he's putting the videos back up partly so that Nick can have a portfolio again, not touching how ''it's his fault'' Nick doesn't have one now. For most people, all the trauma-dumping and rationalizations for his plagiarism made it seem like he was ducking what he did in a different way, and he still isn't to be trusted.

** In his video "Plagiarism and You(Tube)", Hbomb paints James Somerton's writer Nick as TheWoobie. By all accounts, Hbomb could find no evidence of plagiarism on Nick's part. However, Hbomb argues that this makes James praising Nick's writing secretly insidious, as Hbomb speculates that such praise was going to be used to throw Nick under the bus if James was ever accused of plagiarism. Hbomb also says that Nick was inadvertenly made into a liar when Nick claimed that James had never stolen anything, with Hbomb adding that he feels genuinely bad for Nick after his trust was broken. However, [[https://youtu.be/A6_LW1PkmnY?feature=shared&t=3349 a separate video on James Somerton]] released by WebVideo/ToddInTheShadows sees Todd going into a brief tangent about Nick. In this tangent, Todd highlights a Discord post in which Nick himself says that he doesn't want to look things up, so he is one to "just kinda take something and ruminate on it", along with another post where Nick admits that he has "not been able to find supporting evidence" on some of the claims he's written but included anyway. In short, while Hbomb may have painted Nick as an innocent victim because of the lack of signs to suggest otherwise, Todd's video says that Nick is at least responsible for a few of Somerton's lies.

** Despite having one of the shorter segments in the "Plagiarism and You(Tube)" video, fans of WebVideo/InternetHistorian were quick to accuse Harry of being a "leftist shill" who disliked the Internet Historian simply due to IH and IH's fans having more right-leaning viewpoints. The fact that the video led to further allegations of plagiarism from the Internet Historian, such as in "The Cost of Concordia" (a section of the video talking about the trapped South Korean couple seems to be lifted from a ''Vanity Fair'' article on the ''Costa Concordia'' disaster) and the discovery of a Nazi dogwhistle in "The Bikelock Fugitive of Berkeley" (a FreezeFrameBonus showing the durability of the bikelock as [[https://www.adl.org/resources/hate-symbol/1488 14/88]] to make fun of the attacker) didn't help matters. In Harry's own fandom, this is often considered rather humorous, considering the IH section of the video is extremely brief and -- like the other segments that comprise the first half of the video -- only exists to help familiarize the viewer with the concept of online plagiarism, before transitioning to the second half of the video, where the ''actual'' focus of the video -- James Somerton, a gay man deeply entrenched into queer spaces -- becomes the primary target.

* NightmareFuel: In the "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8BIcAZxFfrc Vaccines]]" video, Hbomb mostly pokes fun at Andrew Wakefield as he tears his study apart and exposes him as the scam artist he is... until section 8, wherein Hbomb describes, in detail, just ''how much'' the children suffered, something that's not often discussed when talking about the study. Autistic children as young as 3 years old received procedures like lumbar punctures[[note]]sticking a needle between the vertebrae to draw out spinal fluid[[/note]], colonoscopies[[note]]inserting several feet of tubing with a camera on the end into the rectum to look inside the intestines, something that is largely safe for adults but very dangerous for children under 5[[/note]], was given laxatives and anti-inflammatory drugs ''they didn't need'' with possibly life-threatening side effects, and were sedated multiple times. All of these procedures can be traumatic even for neurotypical adults, let alone young, autistic children who often couldn't understand what was happening to them. Later accounts from medical staff describe the children fainting, vomiting, trying to escape or resist the procedures, needing to be force-fed the fluids required for some of the procedures, needing to be held down by three adults to draw blood, and a boy unable to get a lumbar puncture because he was vomiting so violently he couldn't keep still. One boy was even given an ''experimental drug'' that had not yet cleared an ethics board after Wakefield offered the boy's father a position at one of his companies in exchange. Wakefield purposefully did not inform the parents properly about the risk of these procedures, and so parents signed off on this without knowing what they were getting into, which, under the law, fully classifies as ''child abuse'' as neither the child nor the parents could give informed consent. This abuse did ''not'' go without consequences. A five-year-old autistic boy had his colon perforated 12 times during a colonoscopy (which, due to Wakefield not disclosing the risks of the procedure, legally classifies as ''assault''), almost died after going into ''multi-organ failure'', and will need medical care for the rest of his life. Another boy's lumbar puncture went so horrifically wrong that he had to be rushed to a different hospital for treatment. Keep in mind, these procedures were ''not necessary'', and all the horrific damage done to these children only served to give credibility to a man looking for a disease he ''knew'' didn't exist.

** In the "The Cost" section of his video "Plagiarism and You(Tube)," Hbomb tells how much James Somerton's plagiarism has silenced queer writers and creators and the problem of the society erasing its queer history. He informed that Midlands Zone, the now-defunct UK regional gay magazine, went away during the Covid-19 pandemic and [[KeepCirculatingTheTapes have their archive of articles disappeared from the internet]], yet Somerton earned money from the video that quoted its published column regarding the erasure of queer history without crediting the author Stephen Spinks[[note]]The original passage from Stephen Spinks' article was: "So as we start out on our lifelong personal journeys, how do we discover our community identity if we don't know much about those who have gone before us?"[[/note]]. Hbomb then goes on to explain that he only knew this because he personally ''remembered'' Midlands Zone, with the heavy implication that if not for Harry and this video, James would have been seen as the creator of this line. While Hbomb is telling this, he tries to hold back from tears falling out of his eyes due to [[FrustratingLie how angry and frustrated he is with James Somerton stealing this quote]]. The same section also has Hbomb speaking with TranquilFury, calling Somerton a {{Hypocrite}} for speaking about how terrible it is that LGBT people are being erased from history while Somerton is, at the same time, erasing LGBT people from history by passing off someone else's work as his own. On a meta note, since the video's release, many of Somerton's [[BrokenPedestal former fans]] have come forward on its comment section and on social media and expressed their shame for enabling him.

If it was planned between the two, it's not hindsight.

*** [=HBomb=] also said that there's a lot of stuff James says that is just wrong and he didn't even have time to cover that. One day later, WebVideo/ToddInTheShadows released [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A6_LW1PkmnY his own expose on James]], chronicling the lies and mistruths he told outside of plagiarizing. This was more of a planned thing between H.Bomb and Todd (they knew about each other's videos while in development), but still.

He says he had a traumatic brain injury that led him to forgetting when passage he took from other people to build on/change made it into the scripts he wrote.

The "first American" template specifically refers to his debunked claim to have been the first American to work on the Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog franchise. These quotes became especially common after the release of the December 2023 plagiarism video, and people accused of plagiarism have gotten frequent comments "thanking" Tommy Tallarico for his hard work on their videos. *** One case that makes the video especially polarizing is that Harry mixes common and serious problems with the series, like the handling of the Faunus arc which even the show's creators admitted was very poorly done, with minor complaints not nearly on the same level or even necesarily true, like calling it a ripoff of ''WesternAnimation/AvatarTheLastAirbender'' while citing a bunch of arbitrary similarities like the use of four as an ArcNumber, an opening narration, and ''a sea serpent''.

His focus on the first's negatives rather than trying to offer a new perspective on the controversial second has contributed it to getting a significant amount more heat and dislikes than even any of his politically focused ones, among other things. Some have even stated that the video really isn't a defense for ''II'' in the sense of trying to praise the game with things it did right, but rather it beats down on the first game as much as possible to make the sequel look superior, resulting in the video failing to do what the title set out to achieve.
