* DesignatedVillain: Missy Bradford in ''Girl Meets Sneak Attack''. Riley and co. disliked her simply because she liked Lucas (Riley's crush) and flirted him. Which... ''didn't'' make her bad person. She was only the "antagonist" of the episode simply because she liked the same boy [[ClingyJealousGirl Riley]] did. Missy had been bold and flirtatious, but that was about it. While they ''were'' all 12 at the time ([[spoiler: except for Lucas who's a year older than them]]), it was really immature of Riley to not want them together simply because she didn't want them to be. In fact, that had been the only reason she had given to Lucas as to why she didn't want him to be alone with Missy. While the moral of the episode had been "Don't be in a rush to grow up.", Missy telling them all to grow up at the end of the episode was pretty understandable.

* {{Anvilicious}}: Invoked, but unintentionally by the science teacher. The gender equality message of "Girl Meets STEM" tends to come off as this, to the point that it over-exaggerates the issue, and based itself around poor assumptions about the boys' behavior. While the episode does reveal a well-known fact that women and girls are underrepresented in the STEM field, and the girls choose not to. Yet, Riley blaming the boys for that, even making a claim for their sexism when there wasn't any evidence of such. As a result, Riley ends up coming off badly. The irony comes when we find out the science experiment was a social experiment to test their interactions and emphasize the importance of girls and boys working as equals.

** "Girl Meets Commonism" talks about how Communism is bad because it negates the individuality of others. Maybe that's their way of putting in a perspective of the viewing audience, but there are dozens of reasons communism is terrible that are way worse than not recognizing individuality. In general, the whole concept of communism seems overly simplified for the target audience.
** In "Girl Meets Texas Part 1" Pappy Joe makes a whole speech about how riding the bull is about facing your fears. Except here, Lucas' fear is very well-justified because he could have VERY EASILY died from riding the bull, and besides that, he had no real REASON to face this rational fear beyond gaining Pappy Joe's approval. There's a big difference between courage and outright pointless stupidity.

Trivia trope(s).

* AdoredByTheNetwork: When the series first launched, it received more attention than any other Disney Channel series in years, even getting attention from mainstream media outlets such as ''AccessHollywood'' and ''IGN'' and consequently started to overshadow other shows on the network, including the prior biggest shows on the network, ''{{JESSIE}}'' and ''AustinAndAlly'' (resulting in a ScrewedByTheNetwork situation for other shows). Lately, however, the fortunes of ''Girl Meets World'' have reversed and entered into a similar situation as those other shows (see Screwed By The Network below).

* BizarroEpisode: The Halloween episodes include monsters and ghosts, [[UnreliableNarrator framed as]] Auggie [[BreakingTheFourthWall telling the audience a collection of Halloween stories]].

* RecycledScript: Some of the plots are recycled from ''Series/BoyMeetsWorld'', but this is both a given and a justified case since both shows are [[ComingOfAgeStory coming of age stories]].

* ScrewedByTheNetwork: Compared to when the series first premiered (see Adored By The Network above), the series has significantly fallen off the network radar after ratings started to decline and the Periphery Demographic started to slowly abandon the show when many of them saw it as less a proper sequel or even Spiritual Successor and just another Disney Channel KidCom with Boy Meets World characters in it. Spreading out the episodes with long breaks in between, and grouping (sometimes randomly) episodes tightly together to spill across non-prime nights (such as across an entire week) hasn't helped out either and may have contributed significantly to the audience drop-off.
** To further build on this, the show was doing solid ratings of around 2.20 million viewers but fell dramatically to the 1.6/1.7 range after the holiday hiatus in Season 2, finally returning in January with episodes that were noticeably aired out of order (including Girl Meets STEM, the 19th produced that season but the 26th aired and Girl Meets Commonism, the 6th produced that season but 28th aired) due to differing hair styles, characterizations, and relationship moments. The final season was hampered by multiple week hiatuses in October, November, and December, making it hard as a viewer to know when episodes were even airing. By the time the series was announced as canceled, the show changed the final episodes to air at 6:30 PM ET/3:30 PM PT from its traditional 8:30 PM ET/5:30 PM PT time slot.

* TheScrappy: Charlie Gardener. He's a NiceGuy but he seems a bit ''entitled'' to go on a date with Riley - especially since his whole shtick amounts to "if you're not dating Lucas, you should date me". It doesn't help they're not really friends, and he doesn't even want to take the time to know her first, nor that's it's painfully obvious that Riley isn't interested him - something he choses to ignore.
* ShipToShipCombat: There were seeds of it during the first season, but now it's gotten ''quite'' ugly. At the forefront of everything is Lucas/Riley vs Lucas/Maya ans Lucas/Maya vs Josh/Maya, combined with DieForOurShip towards Farkle in general. The episode "Girl Meets Yearbook" was most likely taking potshots at this phenomenon, but this fact seems to have gone over the fandom's head as it's only fanned the flames more.
