* CrazyAwesome: Carol is a wildcat thief that rides a motorcycle that can drive up walls, loops, through enemies, and up ladders while performing flips and kicks, and casually mentions being trained as a ninja.

* AnticlimaxBoss: Milla can utterly dominate Brevon's second form. Since his attacks mostly consist of blasting, her shield can deflect all of them back at him, and can be further damaged with a Super Shield Burst. Fly away from his dashes, and she can take him out in under two minutes without a scratch.

* BestBossEver: Special mention goes to Brevon's third and final phase with Lilac and Carol. No cheap tricks, no summoning minions, just AwesomeMusic and a nice, clean speed vs. skill fight.

** Few levels in the game come close to matching the sense of speed found in Final Dreadnought 1. Throw in some AwesomeMusic and an increasing sense of urgency as Brevon keeps throwing new obstacles your way, and you have a level that sets a high standard for the last three levels.

** Jade Creek averts the usual hell water levels are known for by featuring several paths to take above the water, [[SceneryPorn gorgeous lighting and backgrounds]], some of the best gimmicks inspired by [[VideoGame/Sonic3AndKnuckles Mushroom Hill]], AwesomeMusic, and a ton of long slopes to cruise down as the cops chase after you with increasingly elaborate obstacles. As Carol, there's also plenty of motorcycles to ride up walls and do back flips over.

* MostWonderfulSound: The sound of a fully charged Shield Burst, when playing as Milla.

* AwesomeArt: The colorful, expressive character designs, smooth and varied animations that convey a lot of personality, the detailed backgrounds, and varied environments with a strong Chinese flavor make it quite the pretty game. Even detractors admit the art looks great.

* CompleteMonster: [[BigBad Lord Arktivus Brevon]], an alien GalacticConqueror, conquered hundreds of worlds, killed and corrupted thousands of heroes. During the events of Freedom Planet he is trying to steal a power artifact known as the Kingdom Stone, which the primary source of power of Avalice. He [[EstablishingCharacterMoment opens the game]] by [[OffWithHisHead beheading the King of Shuigang]] in front of his son, and then brainwashing that son into his own loyal puppet. He then uses his influence over Shuigang to increase tensions between the Three Kingdoms of Avalice and provoke an energy crisis in Shang Mu, eventually leading to him obtaining the Kingdom Stone. After Brevon captures [[TheHero Lilac]] when she attempted to rescue Torque and the Kingdom Stone, he proceeds to [[ColdBloodedTorture mercilessly torture her]], through a combination of wounds (including cutting off her PrehensileHair), ElectricTorture, and {{Breaking Speech}}es.; the electric torture and effects of the wounds are seen on-screen. His worst actions come when the main characters invade his battleship as it prepares to fly into space. Brevon's initial tactics include opening the airlocks, [[BadBoss forcing his own loyal general]] Serpentine into a [[TransformationTrauma painful transformation]] to better fight you, and turning off the atmosphere in his ship. His most despicable act involves using the [[BreakTheCutie naive and innocent Milla as a hostage at knifepoint]] to prevent the main characters from recovering the Kingdom Stone, then forcing the previously mentioned transformation to [[BrainwashedAndCrazy turn Milla into a monster and forcing the characters to fight their friend]]. Brevon [[KnightOfCerebus really stands out]] in an [[VileVillainSaccharineShow otherwise-lighthearted]] game.

** Asking about the DLC/standalone game idea isn't recommended. Many fans have gotten tired of the question, though they'll still take the time to explain the details to newcomers. As explained under BrokenBase, it's a divisive topic that doesn't have a simple solution. "It's done when it's done" is the usual response to any inquiries.

* AssPull: In the story it's been stated multiple times that Avalice can't survive without the Kingdom Stone's energy. [[spoiler:When the Dreadnought's power core explodes, the Kingdom Stone gets destroyed along with it. Back on the surface of Avalice, Lilac gets frustrated over not having been able to protect it ''until'' it suddenly changes form, something that just comes out of nowhere without ''any foreshadowing'' whatsoever. Even though it has been stated that the stone's power is fading, that it can't keep up with the demand for energy, it seems that the transformation solved this problem.]]

* EvilIsCool: Lord Brevon, despite being a CompleteMonster, has quite a few fans due to being a complete KnightOfCerebus, not to mention his snarky lines and his evil resolve in his boss battle.

* FandomRivalry: Fans of the Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog series tend not to think too highly of this game or its fans. This is due to some ''Freedom Planet'' players taking potshots at Sonic games, as well as a tinge of envy due to the critical acclaim ''Freedom Planet'' received. Another cause of resentment is the fact that ''Freedom Planet'' took a good deal of attention away from the Sonic franchise. Particularly angry are the younger fans and non-gaming fans of Sonic, which can border on BerserkButton among some--as ''Freedom Planet'' lacks the MascotWithAttitude factor that drew them to Sonic in the first place, and admittedly, is a lot girlier than Sonic, they see it as Sonic's SpiritualAntithesis.

* LoveToHate: Lord Brevon is so despicable and atrocious, it actually turns right back around in his favor. The game wouldn't be half as memorable without him. Players really ''hate'' this guy, and they ''love'' doing it.
