** In fanworks, many players who portray the Daycare Attendant tend to tone down or ignore Moon's obsession with finding and punishing naughty children, instead making Moon more grumpy and stern than malicious. Sun, while [[HarmlessVillain not malicious in-game]], normally gets its manic nature and [[NoSenseOfPersonalSpace seeming inability to notice personal boundaries]] toned down or overlooked as well, as many players find Sun's behavior in-game to be overwhelming.

** There was quick interest in creating fanart of the Glamrocks, Gregory, Vanessa and Vanny upon the game's release, all showing a wide range of dynamics between them.
** Cassie's reveal in the ''Ruin'' DLC's trailer was also quick to spawn a wealth of fanart with her, usually in fashion with Gregory and other Glamrocks and her dynamics around them.

* MemeticPsychopath: Due to [[VillainKiller decommissioning]] most of the animatronics by [[BadassAdorable himself]], nabbing some of their parts to upgrade Glamrock Freddy, and giving incredibly [[ExactWords vague]] answers when Freddy asks questions while also trying to brush off his concerns, Gregory is jokingly characterized by some fans as not only a {{Memetic|Badass}} BadassAdorable, but also a bit of a [[TroublingUnchildlikeBehavior cold-blooded and ruthless young kid]], with many humorous animations and fanart outright giving him weapons and/or presenting him as a bloodthirsty little gremlin who eagerly craves and uses violence as a first resort. [[spoiler:His seeming [[ColdEquation cold decision]] to cut the elevator cables at the end of ''Ruin'' -- effectively sending his "best friend" to her death after she went through hell trying to save him -- only added fuel to the fire.]]

* {{Moe}}: Almost all of the animatronics can qualify, actually. It helps that this generation doesn't ([[BrainwashedAndCrazy normally]]) kill people.

** That's not even covering the True Ending of [[spoiler:finding out Springtrap/Afton is still ''alive'' below the Pizzaplex, with Afton being a very quick final boss with little actual plot about how he survived the fire, or how Vanny/Vanessa (who completely disappears from the plot in this ending) connects to his survival. There is also the matter of the mysterious, gigantic "Blob" who [[DeusExMachina appears out of nowhere]] in the ending to attack Afton, and is given no explanation for it doing as much as existing. It's implied to be Molten Freddy, but how ''he'' survived the fire is left up in the air]].

* TheUntwist: A prevalent fan theory is that Vanny and Vanessa [[spoiler:really ''are'' different people, not just [[JekyllAndHyde different personas]] but actual body doubles of one another]]. One argument for this theory comes from a literal -- rather than metaphorical -- reading of the Escape ending, which has Vanessa [[spoiler:looking down on the deceased body of Vanny]], assuming that she's [[spoiler:still in her physical body and not reduced to a spirit]]. However, this theory ultimately comes from how the connection between the two is ''[[CaptainObviousReveal so obvious]]'' that it could be construed as a RedHerring; this isn't helped by the actual {{Red Herring}}s set up in previous installments, particularly revolving around [[NoodleIncident The Bite of '87]].

* FanonDiscontinuity: The three-star ending is treated by some fans as the game's "true" ending, since [[spoiler:all of the animatronics survive, and both them and Vanessa are freed from Glitchtrap's control]], as opposed to the more tragic two-star "True Ending", where [[spoiler:all of the animatronics (minus Glamrock Freddy) are brutally maimed and seemingly destroyed when the underground pizzeria is burned down, and Vanessa's fate is ambiguous]][[note]]That being said, [[spoiler:''Ruin'' seems to have retconned the three-star ending into being the true ending]][[/note]]

* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: While Gregory's situation is indeed rough, being hunted down by Vanny and implicitly [[spoiler:being homeless]], a fair few feel [[TroublingUnchildlikeBehavior his actions]] in the 'decommissioning' quest-lines earn him fewer sympathy points. It's established that the animatronics have human-like sentience, so damaging them to take their parts feels closer to OrganTheft, especially once you see [[AlasPoorVillain the enemy Glamrocks afterward]], made worse by the fact that they are BrainwashedAndCrazy, making what Gregory does to them seem ([[CartesianKarma uncalled for]]). It isn't helped by him doing it ''after'' Freddy tells him not to damage his friends, nor by him lying about it straight to Freddy's face, raising issues of QuestionableConsent that are never addressed. This leads to several darker [[AlternateCharacterInterpretation fan interpretations]] of his character, from MemeticPsychopath jokes, to legit fan theories about his being EvilAllAlong, to full-on character hate.

** A non-romantic example; before ''Ruin'', it was common for Gregory to be portrayed as friends with the other Glamrocks when they aren't BrainwashedAndCrazy, especially Roxanne, who was [[DracoInLeatherPants often portrayed as a mother figure towards him]]. Come ''Ruin'' however, and the revelation that [[spoiler:the non-brainwashed Roxy still hates Gregory for stealing her eyes]] caused this trend to die down, with fans instead latching onto [[spoiler:Roxy's canonical friendship with Cassie]].

Despite this, fan portrayals often downplay Monty's anger issues, portray him and [[spoiler:Freddy]] as friends/lovers, depict [[spoiler:his decommissioning of Glamrock Bonnie as either something Vanny brainwashed him into doing or an accident that he feels guilty about]] (if he's even shown to be responsible for the incident at all), and just generally portray him as more benevolent than canon implies. Fans will look for ''any'' excuse to paint him as an innocent victim; they claim the Monty Golf cutout story in ''Ruin'' "proves" Monty's innocence, even though it's just as likely fabricated in-universe, and if they acknowledge [[spoiler:Bonnie's corpse covered in claw marks and green paint]], they will either say that [[spoiler:Vanny hacked Monty to kill Bonnie[[note]]Despite her lack of a motive to do so[[/note]]]], that [[spoiler:Monty hadn't gotten his claw upgrade yet[[note]]Even though Bonnie also appears to have been bludgeoned with a bowling ball[[/note]]]], or that [[spoiler:the Mimic killed Bonnie[[note]]Despite it being trapped underground[[/note]]]]. That's not even getting into all the fans who like the idea of Monty as an ally, sympathize with him, and wanted [[spoiler:him to get a happy ending]].
* EsotericHappyEnding: The three-star ending concludes with [[spoiler:Vanessa being freed from Afton's influence]] and [[spoiler:joining Gregory and Glamrock Freddy]] for ice cream. It would be good, except [[spoiler:Vanessa, as Vanny, is heavily implied to have killed people]], as evidenced by the fact there are reports of missing children. As such, those murdered children are left unaccounted for.

** The ''Ruin'' DLC spawned no less than three: [[spoiler:fanfics focusing on Cassie's birthday at the Pizzaplex (which may or may not feature Gregory), fanfics set after the Normal Ending, where Cassie and Roxy survive and try to escape the Pizzaplex, and to a lesser extent, works featuring Gregory, Vanessa, and/or Freddy coming to the Pizzaplex to save Cassie]].

[[spoiler:While she didn't get repaired, she ''did'' become an ally (albeit only during a brief cutscene near the end), so it seems fans got their wish to ''some'' extent.]]

* KarmicOverkill: Some feel this about the rest of the Glamrock animatronics; while being an active threat to Gregory throughout the game and being responsible for the recent disappearances of children, them [[spoiler:being wrecked by Gregory just so he can give their upgrades to Glamrock Freddy]] doesn't feel right, considering that [[spoiler:they have been [[BrainwashedAndCrazy tampered with by Vanny to act that way]]]][[note]]Although [[spoiler:Monty]] may have actually deserved it, if [[spoiler:he really did murder Glamrock Bonnie]][[/note]]. It says a lot that a lot of fans have been clamouring for (or theorizing) an extra ending where Gregory [[spoiler:saves or repairs]] the other Glamrock animatronics. With the announcement of the ''Ruin'' DLC, fans were hoping that they would get to do just that when playing as Cassie. [[spoiler:Sadly, the animatronics end the DLC in ''even worse'' shape than they did in the main game; though at least [[HeelFaceTurn Roxanne seems to have managed to snap out of her corruption]], and Cassie can [[VideoGameCaringPotential optionally repair Chica's voice box]]. Monty, the most wicked of them, instead [[KarmicDeath gets himself killed]] trying to [[ElectrifiedBathtub pursue Cassie through water]].]]

** Overlaps with EpilepticTrees; following ''Ruin'''s release, a few people have suggested that the culprit behind [[spoiler:Bonnie's death]] is not Monty, but rather ''Roxy''. Their reasoning is that [[spoiler:Bonnie has claw marks and green paint on his torso, and Roxy has green claws (even though Monty is also green)]]. This ignores how Roxy not only had no [[spoiler:homicidal tendencies]] prior to being brainwashed, but also had no motive, [[spoiler:and she only goes after Gregory's voice in ''Ruin'' because he stole her eyes, to say nothing of how she apologizes for almost killing Cassie.]]

* ShockFatigue: In the ''Ruin'' DLC, there are many, many [[JumpScare loud noises upon impact and sudden life-threatening situations]] that play throughout, and they eventually become annoying rather than startling. Some fans found it hard to be interested in ''him'' as a character as much as the ''situation'' he was in.
