* FandomEnragingMisconception: Confusing the Spring Sprite for a younger, 2D version of Te Fiti from ''WesternAnimation/{{Moana}}'' is a surefire way to get some annoyed corrections coming your way. Not helping matters is that Te Fiti is also strongly associated with a destructive behemoth made of lava.

Magnum Opus is for in-universe examples only.

* ContestedSequel: Given the film is the sequel to ''WesternAnimation/{{Fantasia}}'', which is widely regarded by critics and audiences as being Creator/WaltDisney's MagnumOpus, this reception is inevitable. Depending on who you ask, it is either a masterpiece and a worthy follow-up, a film that doesn't live up to ''Fantasia'', but is still good in its own right, or a watered-down and disjointed travesty that fails to capture what made ''Fantasia'' work in the first place outside of a couple of segments.

** The first segment, "Beethoven's Fifth", also has a lot of contention. It's intended to be an abstract piece similar to "Tocatta and Fugue". Some think it doesn't quite fit the definition since there is a coherent plotline to Beethoven's fifth. Others feel that it itself ''does'' count as a ''type'' of abstraction.
** "The Firebird" - Should it have followed up with something similar to "Ave Maria" did to "Night on Bald Mountain", or does the short serve the purpose as is.

Fantasia 2000 is a direct successor/sequel, not a Spiritual Successor, to Fantasia. "The Carnival of the Animals" dates back to 1922 and isn't original to Fantasia 2000, so I'm not sure why people would think this film has a Suspiciously Similar Song to "Purple People Eater".

* SpiritualSuccessor: It's notable, considering Disney's track record for sequels, that ''2000'' truly has the same tone and feeling to it as the original 1940 ''Fantasia''. Many of the shorts serve as Spiritual Successors to shorts from the original.
* SuspiciouslySimilarSong: Many people learned that the song "Purple People eater" sounds very similar to "Carnival of the animals".

The Jack-in-the-box is clearly the villain of the sequence, as proven by how possesive he is of the ballerina (She's very uncomfortable when Jack tries to take advances on her) and his various attempts at killing the tin soldier over. The Jack in the box burning is a direct result of him attempting to kill the soldier.

** The Jack-in-the-box in the Steadfast Tin Soldier. He's creepy, and wants the ballerina, but it's uncertain if he deserves the burning death he got.

In other words, she just does her job. However, her act of grabbing Rachel against her will, not letting her to say goodbye to her parents before they go to work, can count.

** The DenserAndWackier nature of the film in general. Some state the pieces from ''2000'', while well-made, lack the elegance of the original, which had cartoony segments, but also a better balance of more atmospheric works or even abstract visual pieces, while ''2000'' focuses less on music and more animation and story, with some segments such as "Carnival Of Animals" feeling closer to parody pieces.

"The Carnival of the Animals" follows a different tone from the rest of the segments, but otherwise does not fit the definition of BLAM ("Bizarre out-of-nowhere scene that is never brought up again"), since it's just another one of the film's shorts. Ensemble Darkhorse is for minor characters, not entire plots. Useful Notes is not to be listed as a trope, and Examples Are Not Arguable.

* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: "The Carnival of the Animals, Finale" is the shortest part used so far in a ''Fantasia'' film, and it's far more silly and slapsticky than any other portion of the film. Even James Earl Jones doesn't know what to make of it.
