* CultClassic: Their discography has been seen this way since they started their indefinite hiatus in 2016 and [[PosthumousPopularityPotential especially after Sulli's suicide in 2019]]. While they were popular enough during their run to have ''all'' of their full albums be number ones in Korea, they didn't ''quite'' have the same level of mainstream recognition as more conventional girl groups like Music/GirlsGeneration. Their only headlining tour took place ''after'' Sulli left and only in Korea and Japan. Though their videos don't get a lot of views, their fanbase is still active and their discography is seen as being ahead of its time in light of similarly electronic-focused groups like Music/{{Aespa}} debuting amid their hiatus. It also helps that the members have expressed interest in reuniting.

Now that Sulli is the subject of a documentary built around her last interview, I think it's safe to say that the Posthumous Popularity Potential applies to her.

* PosthumousPopularityPotential: Sulli was the co-face and co-visual (with Krystal) when she was alive, having been praised as having the archetypical maknae persona (despite being technically the second youngest, after Krystal), but she also had a very vocal hatedom that only became even more vicious as she tried to take on a more adult image. The hate toward her was so strong that she took a hiatus in 2014 that turned into a permanent departure the following year. Following her suicide in 2019, she has been hailed as one of the group's strengths and recognized as a tragic victim of cyberbullying. Tellingly, Sulli was the ''only'' f(x) member to make the [[https://www.allkpop.com/upload/2021/06/content/281204/1624896264-image.png list]] of the 100 most-searched idols in the first half of 2021.

Revised with a bit more info on how she was perceived when she was alive.

Added DiffLines:

* StuckInTheirShadow: Despite being considered the group's best vocalist (and one of the best dancers), Luna is the least popular member of f(x) by a significant margin and is heavily overshadowed by the others. Amber has also suffered this to some extent, but at least has a decent fanbase among international K-Pop fans (especially those in Western countries).

Main point in the Woobie entry is now included in the Posthumous Popularity Potential entry. Sadly, as a relatively new K-pop fan, I did not know Sulli existed until about two years after she died, so I don't know exactly how popular she was when she was alive, but her being the only member on the linked list, coupled with every other comment on videos like "Electric Shock" mourning her, indicates that she has gained noticeable popularity posthumously.

* ContractualPurity: Sulli received a lot of backlash for dating Choiza from the rap group Dynamic Duo, [[MayDecemberRomance who is a decade her senior]], most comments treading into SlutShaming territory. It's partially due to these comments that pushed her to leave f(x). Furthermore, since she was given a cute, babyish image since debut and was NotAllowedToGrowUp in the fans' eyes, many saw her romance with an older man as shocking (especially after [[https://www.koreaboo.com/article/choiza-under-fire-for-his-past-lyrics-in-midst-of-sullis-instagram-post/ he released a highly erotic song that many perceived to be him bragging about his relationship with her]]). After leaving the group, her sexually charged social media posts and collaborating with Rotta (a controversial photographer known for his "lolita" concepts) did little to salvage what was left of her former fanbase.
