* {{Fanon}}: Despite technically not being owned by anyone, some fans have taken the initiative to pair DLC weapons with the "cloned" characters in [=DW7=] due to their appearance in stages where you fight for the rare versions of the weapons. Some of these pairings do make sense, however as prior to [=DW6=] Yue Ying and Huang Gai used the Dagger Axe and Bombs (Somewhat) respectively.

* FanDumb: So you made 1500 kills in one round on Dynasty warriors online? Well, that's great. Wait, it was in something other than capture? Well, then it never happened, loser. Be a man and do it in capture mode.

* AndTheFandomRejoiced: DW7, in spades. Most of all bringing back the traditional combat system as opposed to DW6's [[{{Understatement}} slightly controversial]] Renbu system, but furthermore many of the character redesigns, particularly those that were less well received, were reverted.

* TearJerker: The DW series never really did have much of an effect when it comes to the story but Koei really seems to have greatly focused on story in [=DW7=] and you actually feel a bit teary eyed when [[spoiler: Liu Bei, Cao Cao and Zhou Yu died in their cut scenes. In Cao Cao's case this is even more impressive since in the past he was always depicted as a villainous tyrant yet in his final moments in DW7 his last thoughts were of his deceased generals who fought and died for him]]

*** Most unnecessary is by far Dong Zhuo's we knew he was a CompleteMonster you don't need to make him look it.
* UnpleasableFanbase: The Dynasty Warriors fanbase has earned a reputation as being particularly unpleasable. Avoid the forums on [[http://koeiwarriors.co.uk/ Koei Warriors]] if you wish to maintain your sanity. Be prepared to hear teenage boys call Koei "complete morons" and "idiots" 100 times for not having the game exactly like ''they'' want it. Arguments about clones(movesets are like crack to DW fans), cut characters(cut one and watch the fandom scream), female characters(they either suck or are great), certain characters not getting spotlight(there are currently 62 characters now in the game), and historical accuracy(in a game where people shoot lasers) can go on mindlessly for pages.

** What is really sad is that they call Dynasty Warriors repetitive yet they praise every first person shooter that comes out every two weeks.

** In ''Dynasty Warriors 6'' the in-battle message that usually signifies a general turning into a BonusBoss is '"Insert General" has become inspired!' For Zhang He, it's 'Zhang He has been intoxicated in his own beauty!'
*** Note that this happens when you face him as Lu Bu, for he believes his own beauty has attracted you to him.

*** Yes people us Dynasty Warriors are unpleaseable also [=DW7=] for Jin, going to 280 A.D. when Jin unified the land instead of going to 234 A.D. at the Battle of Wuzhang Plains.

** Pretty much most, if not all, [=DW6=] character redesigns got heavily criticized for being drastic, including changing some characters' weapons, such as Sun Shang Xiang's familiar chakrams to a bow and even Lu Bu's halberd to some wheel weapon.

* BaseBreaker: Liu Shan, who (generic officer aside) hasn't even made his appearance yet, is already getting this reaction. To the point where ''his inclusion'' would be to many a case of RuinedFOREVER.
** Surprise! He's been announced for 7, wearing a fur-lined coat and that funny hat Sun Quan had in 4. Time to wait and see what the fans will think of that.

* FanPreferredCouple: Gan Ning and Shang Xiang, as opposed to Shang Xiang and Liu Bei, [[FoeYay unless you ship the former with Ling Tong]].
** Koei seemed to counter this by making Liu Bei much younger looking in ''Dynasty Warriors 6''. Before he looked a good 15-20 years older than her.
** Guan Ping and Xing Cai, despite her being based on the historical wives of Liu Shan.

** [=DW7=]: No doubt, the inclusion of [[DirtyCoward Liu]] [[TooDumbToLive Shan]] as a playable officer, even more FailPolish across the board(on Dong Zhuo even!), Wei having an even more sympathetic characterization, and Jin's first appearance in the series are going to raise some eyebrows when fans in the west get ahold of the game. Oh, and not bringing Pang De back.

* [[AmericansHateTingle American Reviewers Hate...]]: This and SamuraiWarriors are well-received franchises in Japan. Americans hate them to death and wish it would just vanish already. New DW game? Ten bucks to say that American reviews will say [[ItsTheSameSoItSucks IT'S REPETITIVE!]]. Though, of course, your mileage may vary.

* BaseBreaker: Liu Chan, who (generic officer aside) hasn't even made his appearance yet, is already getting this reaction. To the point where ''his inclusion'' would be to many a case of RuinedFOREVER.

** The bow moveset for Sun ShangXiang and Yue Ying in ''DynastyWarriors 6''. Once the character is fully leveled up, it is ''ridiculously'' easy to mow down enormous crowds and strike repeatedly at enemy officers before they even get within range of you.

* TheyChangedItNowItSucks: A common reaction to the new battle system in DW 6.
** [=DW6=]: Empires is starting to get this reaction due to the removal of some features present in past games (Free mode, Char. Lvl carry over at new game, etc.)
** This has been the case with pretty much every game in the series. For instance there are still those that claim [=DW3=] is the best in the series, the same with 4, 5, etc. There are even those who think 2 is the best, despite the fact that it's missing almost all the RPGElements and lacks what depth there is in the latter games' combat systems.
