** Joking about Dr. Mario's credentials is commonplace. This went into overdrive with HilariousInHindsight come ''Dr. Mario World'', where we not only get characters such as Yoshi, Peach and Toadette becoming doctors with dubious credentials, but [[BackAlleyDoctor Bowser]], his son Bowser Jr., [[UpToEleven the Koopalings]] and [[TheBusCameBack Wario]] and Waluigi as well. And then we also have five baby doctors. Yes, we have '''Dr. Baby Mario, all the way through to Dr. Baby Rosalina too!''', complete with pacifiers, baggy coats and other accessories.
** The mere existence (and ridiculousness) of Dr. Goomba Tower, who is basically [[TotemPoleTrench three Goombas wearing a baggy coat]], got people to sarcastically request his inclusion in the ''VideoGame/MarioKart'' and ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBros'' games.

* PortingDisaster: Largely averted with the UsefulNotes/GameBoy version, which is hardly a porting disaster at all. Literally the only thing that puts it below the other versions is the lack of color, which makes it slightly more difficult to discern between the different virus & mega-vitamin types under certain lighting conditions. The UsefulNotes/GameBoy has a monochrome screen, so instead of using colors to denote the Viruses & Mega-Vitamins, it uses 3 different shade formats. Yellow becomes white, red becomes black, and blue becomes dithered gray. When playing the game with a back-light, or on an emulator, telling them apart is easy. It's not easy however when you're playing the game on the original Game Boy in a well lit environment, where the shades can get easy to mix up. Barring this, the Game Boy Version is faithful to the NES original and has solid gameplay.
