* SugarWiki/VisualEffectsOfAwesome: The game's use of MotionCapture initially brought some worries when it was first shown off during an episode of ''NHK Professional: Shigoto no Ryuugi'', but when the game came out, it turned out to be one of the game's strongest points. At a time when mocap usually looked [[UncannyValley extremely uncanny]], its use here was praised for being extremely fluid and well-executed. The sequel would later expand upon its usage to great effect, culminating in a fully choreographed Pokémon battle for its climax.

* GeniusBonus: One of the Pika Prompts shows Pansage prodding at a fatigued Detective Pikachu to eat the leaves on its head. The joke being that it relieves stress, according to [=PokéDex=] entries. This fact isn't brought up anywhere in the chapter, and only really makes sense to people who pay attention to Dex entries.

** Detective Pikachu has a quick conversation with a Pikachu that is implied to be Ash's. So...what would happen if Ash and Tim met in Ryme City?

Needs to be moved to Trivia with Word of God to confirm that it was intentional.

* AuthorsSavingThrow: At least for English-speaking players, the option to play with English or Japanese voice acting was welcomed by fans after years of [=TPCi=] neglecting to include the original Japanese voice acting in Western versions of its voiced products (save the minimally-voiced ''VideoGame/PokkenTournament''). Additionally, while English ''Pokémon'' dubs in general are known for having a spotty track record (most infamously the [=TPCi=] dub of ''Anime/PokemonTheSeries''), the dub of ''Detective Pikachu'' uses many talented voice actors and better voice direction, and is considered a marked improvement over past dubs.

Uncanny Valley is IUEO now and the subjective version has been split; cleaning up misuse and ZCE in the process

* UncannyValley: MotionCapture [[https://i.imgur.com/0Ew7Gww.gif Detective Pikachu's faces]] (at least in the "Behind The Scenes" part).

That ain't hindsight.

* HilariousInHindsight:
** An early installment of ''WebVideo/AMVHell'' had a clip of human women cooing over Pikachu set to [[Music/MindlessSelfIndulgence "Bitches".]] This Pikachu actually ''is'' attracted to human women.
** This isn't the first time Kaiji Tang has played a hardboiled detective in the ''Pokémon'' universe. Before this game, he was cast as [[{{Characters/PokemonOtherNonPlayableCharacters}} Looker]] in ''{{Anime/Pokemon Generations}}''.

** The game's open ending leaves a lot for interpretation. Namely, [[spoiler:where's Harry and how Pikachu relates to his disappearance]].

** Much like a few other ''Franchise/{{Pokemon}}'' Spin-off games, like ''VideoGame/PokemonSnap'' or ''VideoGame/PokemonConquest'', the idea of inserting Pokémon into a genre it has never done before was enough to intrigue a good amount of people, as was the live-action adaptation.
