Despite this, he welcomes listeners to come up with alternative interpretations of the duo's songs, and has revealed that many of them were deliberately written to be applicable to multiple different situations.

** "Everytime You Go Away" was originally a track on ''Voices'' in 1980, but with the likes of "Kiss on My List", "You Make My Dreams" and "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'" on the album, it never got released as a single. A few months later, the group Tavares had a #1 hit on the R&B chart with their version (and slightly improved the original's showing on the Hot 100, getting to #50). Then, in 1976, after they moved to Creator/RCARecords and had their BreakthroughHit with "Sara Smile", Atlantic re-released "She's Gone", which finally climbed up into the Top 10 and became one of their best-known songs.
