* NintendoHard: The original Chrome is this if you play on Medium difficulty or higher. Enemies can cut you down in a second or two, and have aimbot-like perfect aim even at long range. It's also very easy to run out of ammo if you didn't bring enough during the initial mission loadout. Chrome: [=SpecForce=] has much more "mainstream" difficulty, for a number of reasons.

* CompleteMonster:
** Ron "Pointer" Hertz, the former best friend of Bolt Logan, grew so arrogant that he believed that Logan "holds him back". Betraying Logan and leaving him to die during their last mission, Pointer becomes the chief agent of [=CoreTech=] Industries, killing all members of their rival corporation, SPACON, and then leading the development and preparation of a nanovirus, which he planned to use to wipe out the entire colony on Terbon, not intending to spare even women and children.
** [[CorruptCorporateExecutive The [=CoreTech=] Industries representative]], "the face" of [=CoreTech=] Industries, stands out as exceptionally cruel. Discovering that miners on Terbon uncovered a rare mineral, called Chrome, the representative ordered Pointer to wipe out the whole colony on the planet, solely so her company can take over the mine. Leading Logan into a trap, the representative soon contacted him again after Logan killed Pointer, offering him money and threatening to blackmail him, all in an effort to force him to slaughter all miners in the colony, in which she can succeed in one of the endings.
* CultClassic: Tend to be overlooked, but pretty well liked by its fans and it helps that the game is graphically a bit more advanced than most contemporary FPS games at the time.
* SequelDifficultyDrop: In the original Chrome, you can survive relatively little damage, and an enemy with an automatic weapon can cut you down in a second or two at close range. In [=SpecForce=] you're wearing a suit of PoweredArmor that lets you survive a lot more damage, marks enemies on your [=HUD=], reduces bullet spread, and has various other useful features. This all makes [=SpecForce=] noticeably less difficult than Chrome. (For comparison, on Medium difficulty you have 800 health in Chrome, and the equivalent of 2000 health in [=SpecForce=]). Enemies in [=SpecForce=] also drop more health and ammo when you kill them.
