* ShippingBedDeath: Averted, [[spoiler:Jack and Bitty's relationship made for some of the most heartwarming, tearjerking and intense moments of the comic]].

* AbandonShipping: Kent/Jack lost followers as Year 3 went on. Between Jack/Bitty becoming an OfficialCouple, the rise to popularity of Kent/Tater, despite the clear ShipSinking when they finally meet, and some comments from Jack about Kent, a lot of fans left the ship behind.

* ShipSinking: Comic 3.8 and the accompanying notes put a damper on the Kent/Tater ship by way of Tater shouting at, insulting, and trying to fight Kent.
** To be fair, Kent and Tater never really had any canon basis to begin with, so many shippers haven't taken this as discouragement.

* CriticalResearchFailure: Ngozi [[http://omgcheckplease.tumblr.com/post/91579821847 didn't realize]] that it's illegal for people to play in the NCAA after QMJHL, which Jack does. She discussed it in her notes:

** Ice Skaters and Hockey Skaters ''do not'' skate the same way nor do they use the same skates, and Bitty's highlight reel being half figure skating probably would've got him sent to Samwell's Figure skating coach instead.
** Kent being from New York means he should've played in the OHL, not the QMJHL.
** As mentioned on the character page: Lardo's parents are from Vietnam. Her surname is not even remotely Vietnamese, unless it's supposed to be Đoàn.

* FanPreferredCouple: Bittle/Jack was this before they graduated to OfficialCouple status.
** Dex/Nursey are popular enough to compete with the BetaCouple Shitty/Lardo.

* HSQ: 3.25, which includes [[spoiler:Bitty asking Jack to kiss him in the middle of the ice as soon as they are celebrating Jack's victory in the Stanley Cup]].

** Eric will end up working in the food industry. Whether he opens his own bakery, works in one, or writes cook books varies though.

* LauncherOfAThousandShips: Bitty has been shipped with the entirety of the Samwell Hockey Team (and Lardo platonically), plus Tater, Kent and even Bad Bob, besides various OCs. Sometimes even more than [[OT3 one at the time]]. There are even ships including [[{{Polyamory}} the entire Samwell Hockey Team/Bitty]].

* CrackShip: Alexei "Tater" Mashkov/Kent "Parse" Parson came out of nowhere after Tater's introduction. They haven't met yet, but fans like them together, to have a [[ShipMates ship mate]] to Eric/Jack.

* BrokenBase: The fandom is split on whether or not Kent Parson was abusive, despite him only being shown in a few comics. It's probably the biggest source of fandom drama. Year 3.7 confirms that [[spoiler:Jack didn't think that Kent was good for him and describes their relationship as mostly physical. YMMV on how much he's lying to himself and/or Bitty, as past extras have shown his relationship with Kent to be more than that.]]
** A lighter example: The fandom fell into the same divide as the SMH team in the Attic vs Cockroach debate.

** Both NHL teams wearing white jerseys? Sure! The home team in white and the away team in black? Why not!

* FanPreferredCouple: Bittle/Jack
** There's a considerable amount of fans for Jack/Kent because of the angst and possible character studies
** Dex/Nursey are popular enough to compete with the BetaCouple Shitty/Lardo

** Chowder ends up playing in the NHL

* FridgeLogic: NHL player's college friend has a relatively popular blog where he talks about said player? No way hockey fans - many of whom are invested in RealPersonFic - haven't put 2 & 2 together with Bitty's tweets and vague comments to realize [[spoiler:that Jack and Bitty are dating.]]
** In 3.6 [[spoiler: Jack reveals to Bitty that Kent Parson is interested in men. Logical for a discussion of sexual histories, until you realize that Jack, who is hyperaware of how his own sexuality could impact his NHL career, would never tell someone who runs a vlog and isn't subtle about another closeted player's sexuality. Doesn't help that Bitty doesn't like Kent Parson very much.]]

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter: Downplayed, but some people think this happens to Bittle. The 2 first years of the plot heavily focus on Jack's issues, his past and his plans for the future, on the other hand, Bittle only get focus on his coming out and his crush on [[spoiler: Jack]], during year 2. A lot of things about Bittle end up never really being talked about or explored, such as his relationship with his father and his conservative family, his bullying-filled childhood, the origin of his fear of checking, which seems to expand on most forms of physical contact and his romantic life.

** Jack, oh holy god, '''''Jack''''' is the woobie above woobies in this comic.
*** He struggled throughout childhood to please his (NHL star) father, eventually leading to full-blown anxiety disorder, which he had to take medication for.

*** And for the icing on the cake? In ''Parse III'', it's implied that [[spoiler: he was not only in a relationship with the same best friend who was first draft pick when Jack instead went to rehab, but said relationship was more than a little rocky. (YMMV on whether or not it was abusive. Based on Year 3's updates, it really sounds like it wasn't.)]] There are not enough words in the world to describe how badly this poor boy needs a hug.

* CrowningMomentOfFunny: A LOT.
** From the first comic; Bitty expresses excitement for meeting The Boys for the first time, and for the fact that the kitchens are open. "I hope they like pecan pie!" One GilliganCut later....
