* Narm: The SDF are just so... cartoonishly evil, with every line of dialogue from Kotch and his people being all the horrible, monstrous things they plan on doing to the earth. Whatever reasons they have for wanting this are glossed over at best, and there's not a single hint of anyone in the vastness of the SDF being even mildly sympathetic.

** While some of those Settlement Defense Front officers in the Most Wanted list do put up quite a fight (such as the ones who are Ace Pilots), many of them are no tougher than regular enemies. Players probably don't notice killing Lieutenant Andrew Hawryluk and Captain Radoslav Barkov among the Mooks killed, despite the latter having a speaking role in the side-mission he is in. However, worst example goes to , who turns into a RedShirt.

** The announcement of HighDefinition Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered was praised, however; unfortunately, that it will be released alongside (not separately) with Infinite Warfare annoyed and soured fans (see JustHereForGodzilla). This is before mentioning physical copies of Infinite Warfare are required to even access Modern Warfare Remastered.
** Infinite Warfare requires a whopping one-hundred thirty gigabytes of storage space for installation on all platforms due to the ultra high resolution textures to accommodate resolution screens (primarily 4K). Granted, the file size includes Modern Warfare RemasteredIncluding an inevitable day-one update and multiplayer maps, but it forces players to ensure they have the available space to even play the game on their platform of choice. Compare this against other contemporary video games like VideoGame/TheWitcher3WildHunt (35 GB) or competing FirstPersonShooter VideoGame/Battlefield1 (50 GB, 10 GB short of VideoGame/GrandTheftAutoV); even Black Ops III had less than half the size of Infinite Warfare (just under 60 GB).
*** Later it was analyzed that Infinite Warfare took 70 GB while Modern Warfare Remastered took 55 GB. While it made quite some sense for Infinite Warfare, still disproportionately large for a shot-by-shot highly detailed remake (barring very few minor differences) of a normally 7 GB game just a generation behind.

* ItsTheSameNowItSucks: Despite it not being indicative of the final product, the multiplayer beta is contested due for its hybrid-recycling of game mechanics and systems from prior installments - killstreak/strike package rewards, map designs, spawning locations and time-to-kill from Ghosts, supply drops and weapon variants of VideoGame/CallOfDutyAdvancedWarfare and VideoGame/CallOfDutyBlackOps3 with its hit detection, movement, payloads/specialist abilities and weapons and specialist loadouts (combat rigs being an off-shoot of them). Furthermore, aside from the constant military, science-fiction theme reused from previous entries since VideoGame/CallOfDutyBlackOpsII, multiplayer for Infinite Warfare is decried as bland and generic; Infinity Ward's last Call of Duty game Ghosts was similarly criticized.
* PortingDisaster: The PC version. Not only is it prone to the storage space problems as mentioned above, it also uses [=P2P=] connections -- leaving a major security risk to users -- as the primary servers for the multi-player. Then, it was discovered that, for some bizarre reason; that the server's populace was segregated into separate servers for the Steam version and the physical[=/=]Windows Store versions; with the former version's numbers being severely lower compared to earlier games. To top it off, for some reason the arrow keys are borderline unusable due to some weird input lag bug that still hasn't been patched even a couple weeks after launch, which is a problem for left handed players.
** PolishedPort: On the upside, in terms of performance Infinite Warfare is far, far more stable than Advanced Warfare and especially Black Ops III were at launch. It is also much more well optimized than Black Ops III is even after several patches for the latter.
* SoOkayItsAverage: Many critics and fans agree that the single player campaign largely redeems the game from its otherwise lackluster multiplayer to make it an ultimately average game. It's certainly not terrible, but it's nowhere near the quality of other iterations in the franchise such as the Modern Warfare and Black Ops games.

Seeing a lot of complaints online regarding the Ghost perk being overpowered like the Black Ops 1 version of Ghost.

* GameBreaker: The Volk assault rifle. While not the fastest firing, it does a lot of damage, and like all energy weapons it has an unwritten side effect of shots bouncing off of walls. With the right attachments, it becomes the best assault rifle in the game. Oh, and it's unlocked very early into the game, also making this a DiscOneNuke.

** The Ghost perk is back and with almost the same functionality as the perk had in Black Ops 1. You do not appear on the enemy minimap when enemy [=UAV=]s are active and new to IW, you appear invisible to enemy Advanced [=UAV=]s. You don't even have to move for Ghost to work, so you can sit in a corner for a whole game and not worry about appearing on the enemy minimap unless you shoot an unsilenced weapon or they use other "tracking" perks and equipment to find you.\\\
To make it worse, no other "Blue" perk is as critical as Ghost is -- not even Recon as your Ghost perk counters enemy Recon perks. So if you have Ghost, the enemy has Recon, and you call in a friendly [=UAV=], you still are invisible to enemy radar!
