* {{Squick}}: The rather kinky way Bayonetta and Jeanne take down Jubileus (and by proxy, Balder) comes off somewhat incestuous when you take into account that Balder is Bayonetta's father...

* SoOkayItsAverage: The general consensous of the anime. It isn't perfect and the anime falls a bit flat in certain areas, thanks to it [[CompressedAdaptation compressing a long multi-hour game into a two hour film]], but it's ultimately a servicable and faithful adaptation of the game that has beautiful animation and great fight scenes.

* SoOkayItsAverage: The general consensous of the anime. It isn't perfect and the anime falls a bit flat in certain areas, thanks to it [[CompressedAdaptation compressing a long multi-hour game into a two hour film]], meaning good chunks of game's story and CharacterDevelopment had to be altered and removed so it can all fit within the runtime, but it's ultimately a servicable and faithful adaptation of the game that has beautiful animation and great fight scenes.

* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: The ending theme, [[https://youtu.be/UduLIGkU90E Night, I Stand]], is a melancholy, but energetic track that sells the tragic undertones of Bayonetta's character, while being badass at the same time. There's also the [[https://youtu.be/f5stDRaKsOg Japanese version]], which has an extended intro. The song is also sung by Mai Fujisawa, the daughter of Music/JoeHisaishi.

Moving this to the Bayonetta anime, just like how Bayonetta 2 had its own Funny subpage.

Added DiffLines:

* SugarWiki/FunnyMoments: The scene where Bayonetta confronts Luka after taking a bath with Cereza. Luka gets too distracted by her wet, bouncing breasts that he ends up falling out of the window, and then Cereza says, "Look, the old guy is dead!"

Just rewriting some minor stuff, trimming Word Cruft, or adding a link

* AntiClimaxBoss: Balder and Jubileus are effortlessly defeated by Bayonetta and Jeanne with unsatisfying ease. It should be noted that the villains combating the witches never even get a punch in and the heroines don't even break a sweat killing them.
* BaseBreakingCharacter: Bayonetta. Either you love how the film stays true to keeping her as the beloved character from the original videogame or absolutely dislike her for being a boring InvincibleHero who's never truly in danger. The only character Bayonetta ever has any actual difficulty with is Jeanne early on, [[HiddenPurposeTest who never had any intention of killing her anyway]].

* HilariousInHindsight: Luka is the AdaptationalComicRelief in this movie; while he had his goofball moments in the first game, he was also much more competent as well. The second game, ''Bayonetta 2'', also takes a similar approach that the movie did, making Luka much more silly for comedic value.
* TheScrappy: The film's version Enzo has grown into this for a few fans. Not only is he an overweight mob boss who brags about killing others, but he [[KarmaHoudini completely gets off scott free for all of his actions.]] It also doesn't help that most of his lines are nothing but painful exposition.

* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: Bayonetta comes across as this due to her smug attitude and lack of concern for anyone but herself. The fact she just about breezes through every enemy in the movie doesn't help her case, either.

Luka was never a worthy opponent.

* TheyChangedItNowItSucks: Most people didn't like how Luka became the AdaptationalComicRelief compared to the WorthyOpponent he was towards the titular antihero in the game.

* GeniusBonus: Bayonetta's pre-Scarborough Fair guns are called Elfin Knight. "Elfin Knight" is an obscure Scottish folk ballad that was an early version of the song that would become "[[Music/SimonAndGarfunkel Scarborough Fair]]".
