Season 2 shows why these doesn't apply anymore. Just look at Van in the Catharsis Factor.

* EsotericHappyEnding: [[spoiler:Ares is killed in self-defense, the demon he teamed up with is slain, and Ruti is properly treated of her Hero Blessing to be able to live a normal life as Gideon's sister.. but the war with the Demon King's forces rages on, and Theodora is going to march off to the frontlines without the fractured Hero's party backing her anymore on a high likelihood of dying in the conflict. The story intentionally leaves a lingering gray morality note on things, but unambiguously has [[OnlyTheLeadsGetAHappyEnding the main cast end in a happy place]] despite effectively abandoning a world-threatening conflict, and the matter of how Blessings direct ''everyone else'' in the world is simply left unresolved or considered.]]

* StrawmanHasAPoint: Theodora, in her fight with Ruti, attempts to convince Ruti to return to being the Hero because the people need her to protect them from the Demon Lord's forces. The implication is that Theodora isn't considering what Ruti really wants, and Rit manages to talk her down by convincing her that the people don't need a Hero to be inspired to protect themselves. However, Ruti is still one of the most powerful people in the series' world, so her running off to live peacefully in the middle of a crisis comes across as incredibly selfish--her powers would be incredibly helpful to the people fighting the Demon Lord's army, no matter if she still has the title of the Hero or not.

* CatharsisFactor: Having spent his screen time being a delusional KnightTemplar {{Jerkass}} who justifies his horrendous acts as him and the people killed by his actions playing out their "roles", many fans were very pleased to see Van [[spoiler: suffer a HumiliationConga when he gets put on the backfoot by Danan and Yarandrala, trounced by Red in a sword fight due to his [[HoistByTheirOwnPetard focus on his]] [[UnskilledButStrong blessing]], and getting a well-deserved punch to the face from Ruti that sends him flying into a rock and ''nearly kills him''. Some even went as far as to express disappointment that his party arrived in time to heal him and save his life.]]

* LesYay: Tisse and Ruti's relationship gives off this vibe. Tisse is one of the only other people Ruti is close with beyond her brother Gideon, and Tisse shows much more loyalty to Ruti and her own personal happiness over fighting the Demon King, leaving the Hero's party with her and collaborating in finding a way to suppress her Hero Blessing. [[spoiler: Post Season 1 Finale and Season 2 lays this on even more with the two living together in Zoltan in a similar spousal-like manner that Gideon and red are.]]

* TheyChangedItNowItSucks: In the light novel, the appearance of the contract demon named Belial is never specified beyond them having horns. The manga adaptation depicted them as a [[EvilIsSexy gorgeous scantily-clad]] [[CuteMonsterGirl dark-skinned woman]], so the anime surprised and annoyed manga readers when it turned her into a cartoonish anthropomorphic goat-man.

Neurotypical means that someone is NOT on the spectrum

* DiagnosedByTheAudience: While all Blessings have a psychological effect on the person who possesses it, Ruti's Hero Blessing hits her the hardest. It makes it so that [[DidYouThinkICantFeel she can't express her emotions outwardly]], compels her to [[IncapableOfDisobeying obsessive behavior]] (in her case, monster-slaying and [[ChronicHeroSyndrome acts of heroism]]) and she has NoSocialSkills, needing to rely on her brother to help her live like other people, all qualities that reflect someone on the Austism spectrum. [[spoiler:When she starts using the Devil's Blessing Drug, she develops a neutral blessing that slowly counteracts the Hero Blessing when it usually causes others to develop more potent Blessings instantly, not unlike how mental health medications stabilize certain neurotypical personalities while exacerbating others.]]

Repair Dont Respond, also YMMV example can not be played with.

** [[SubvertedTrope On the other hand]], this can be countered by a bit of military wisdom: Never put [[ShellShockedVeteran someone with PTSD]] on the front lines; you never know when- or how- they'll snap. And Ruti was so incredibly traumatized by what the Hero Blessing forced her to do that not even [[EmotionSuppression the Hero Blessing itself]] [[NotSoStoic was fully able to keep it in check]].

** Of course, this depends on a utilitarian view of ethics. Being the hero robbed Ruti of almost everything that makes life worth living, including her autonomy and her brother. Any victory earned would be [[PoweredByAForsakenChild sourced from her own misery]] which could also be viewed as selfish.
*** Of course, both sides ignore the possibility that Ruti could just retire ''after'' defeating the demon army instead of either letting them run mostly unopposed (based on the anime only ever showing people dying in the hundreds as Ruti effortlessly mows through a full battalion) or fighting a ForeverWar (which the anime only implies might be the case).
