* BrokenBase: Some people are split on deaths of both Amanda and Heather. For Amanda, many people feel that her death was unnecessary and because of her dying ala StuffedInTheFridge, her plot arc became an AbortedArc. For Heather, people feel TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter, as she could've been a good foil to the more brave and serious Kelly. The base was split even further with the casting of Michelle Hurd as Series Regular for season 2 as yet-to-named character who many feel is just a SuspiciouslySimilarSubstitute of Amanda as she will apparently fill the role of both Ash's love interest and foil.

*** "Fire in the Hole" plays an original Bootsy Collins cover of "The Time Has Come Today" by The Chamber Brothers, done specially for the show, under the credits.

** Some of these may be intentional as the whole cheesy B-movie effects is pretty much a trademark of the old crew, note that Deadite Vivian's death is obviously done in such a way that is is deliberate rather than a fail. certain effects in the show have shown decent cgi and special effects. In a behind-the-scenes of Dead by dawn, Deadite linda was intentionally designed to look fake, similar to a china doll.

* FanDisservice: Lucy Lawless naked [[spoiler: covered in ash and climbing out of a funeral pyre.]]

* EnsembleDarkhorse: Joanie the prostitute racked up quite a few fans, especially since she is the series first LGBT character; being a trans gendered woman. [[spoiler: Veers into TooCoolToLive and WeHardlyKnewYe as she's killed off in her first episode.]]

* LesYay: Ruby frequently seems to be hitting on Amanda when the two of them are alone together; it gets much more blatant as the series goes on. [[spoiler:Deadite!Amanda later laments to Ruby that "they could still be together", though just who is projecting that thought is anybody's guess considering the revelations of the last couple of episodes.]]
