** In the episode “Bible Fruit”, Meatwad asks Master Shake if he can watch ''WesternAnimation/{{Futurama}}'', to which Shake replies with “Well, now we’re too damn cheap to get it”, a reference to Adult Swim losing the show’s broadcast rights to Creator/ComedyCentral in 2008. However, in December 2021, the series LEFT Comedy Central and RETURNED to Adult Swim, making this gag incredibly outdated.

** In "Rabbit, not Rabbot" Shake gets his brain put into a rabbit and denies it the whole episode. Which makes this episode funnier when you realize that Dana Snyder, Shake's voice actor played Dr. Colosso, a talking rabbit, in ''[[Series/TheThundermans The Thundermans]]''.

* UnintentionalPeriodPiece: A lot of technology and references in the show place it rather heavily in the early 2000s. Though interestingly, the technology remained the same as the show went on, rather than be updated like with most long-running series. The episode "Gee Whiz" also comes across as bizarre for viewers of a post ''WesternAnimation/MoralOrel'' and ''Series/BlackJesus'' [adult swim], as the standards and practices have loosened since the episode was made and there is no longer a JesusTaboo.

Jerkass Dissonance is an index, not a trope.

* JerkassDissonance: Master Shake and Carl are total jerks, yet that's exactly why they're so popular with most of the fandom.

** A particularly infamous example comes from the show's GrandFinale, "The Greatest Story Ever Told". Most fans found his death to be rather anticlimactic and unjustified. [[TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot Fans also thought that it would've been funnier if they shown an aging Shake along with Meatwad in the last scene]].

* ShockingSwerve: {{Invoked|Trope}}. The show absolutely revels in deliberately making as little sense as possible or ''[[ItMakesSenseInContext only]]'' [[ItMakesSenseInContext making sense in the context of the given episode]]. Moral Event Horizon isn't applicable to Aqua Teen Hunger Force due to its Negative Continuity and reliance on Comedic Sociopathy.

* MoralEventHorizon: As the show got DarkerAndEdgier from season 4 onward, characters started crossing the MEH much more often.
** Master Shake has crossed it a ''countless'' amount of times. Special mentions go to killing Meatwad's pets [[MicrowaveTheDog via the microwave]],[[note]]and his own as well, although he did it accidentally as he thought it was Meatwad's[[/note]] traumatizing Meatwad to the point of a DrivenToSuicide state in "Zucotti Manicotti", making Carl jump out the window and fall to his death in pursuit of his lasagna in "Lasagna", launching an arson attack on the city in "Super Hero", and causing a nuclear war in "The Granite Family".
** Frylock committed an unforgivable act in "Fry Legs" by killing a computer repair woman's boyfriend to get with her. This is made especially worse by the fact that he's usually the most rational member of the Aqua Teens.
** Carl's already an unlikeable jerkass at his best, but there are some episodes that go above and beyond to paint him as an irredeemable bastard. Special mentions go to "Larry Miller Hair System", where he gives [[ItMakesSenseInContext another version of himself]] advice that completely ruins his life and results in him shooting himself, and "Storage Zeebles", where he commits a SugarApocalypse, ''dooming an entire world's inhabitants'' [[MikeNelsonDestroyerOfWorlds out of sheer greed]].
** Jet Chicken was already a dick, but killing his doctor after he agreed to perform surgery on him and then forcing Meatwad at gunpoint to perform the surgery instead pushes him over the line.
** Markula having his vampire minions kill the President and trying to kill all humans.
** Meatwad letting Frylock get infected with Hypnogerms for almost no reason.
