* ProductPlacement: The author will occasionally mention ''[[Webcomic/ClaudeAndMonet Claude & Monet]]'' which is a webcomic he writes.
* ScheduleSlip: The author was writing an exhaustive amount of words at a furious pace (approx. 25,000 words every two weeks), but an injury to his arm put him out of the running for a couple of months and the writing speed hasn't quite gotten back up to what it was just yet.
** The BrokenBase fighting over at Spacebattles might have had something to do with it as well.
** The editing to his upcoming debut novel has also had an impact.
