'''''Home''''' is a 2015 computer-animated feature film from Creator/DreamworksAnimation directed by Tim Johnson, based on the 2007 children's book ''Literature/TheTrueMeaningOfSmekday'' by Adam Rex. The film is about an endearing but inept race of aliens called the Boov who invade Earth in order to take cover from their alien enemies and move the human race to Australia to live in pre-fabricated cities while the Boov take the rest of the world. After one hapless Boov accidentally transmits the Boov's location he goes on the run from the rest of the Boov and runs into a young Human girl called Tip who's searching for her mother. A short film ''Almost Home'' was released in front of both ''WesternAnimation/MrPeabodyAndSherman'' and ''WesternAnimation/{{Rio 2}}'', detailing the events before the start of the movie proper.

* AdultFear: Tip's entire predicament. Imagine one day, your and your child are separated by forces beyond your control. Those said forces take you away and your child manages to not get caught. You're left wondering if he/she is safe or ''dead''. Incidentally, this is also [[spoiler: ''the Gorg's'' motivation]].

* VillainSong: "Drop That" comes close, seeing as it's a heavy dubstep number inserted into a mostly lighthearted score and plays when the Gorg arrive on Earth. [[spoiler: Subverted, though, since Gorg isn't actually a villain.]]

* ActorAllusion: Tip, played by Creator/Rihanna , mentions that she is from Barbados. Rihanna is from Barbados.

* CastingGag: [[JenniferLopez J-Lo]] as Tip's mom.

* MissingTrailerScene: An early trailer featuring Pig snorting like his namesake in his sleep. This isn't seen in the film.

* PaperThinDisguise: To keep Oh from being recognized, Tip prepares an elaborate makeover... and gives him a fake BeautyMark. ''[[CrowningMomentOfFunny It works]]''.

* StrangeSyntaxSpeaker: Oh regularly mixes up tenses, verbs, nouns, and English grammar in general. In fact, the Boov's take on English is not unlike LOLcats.

* BizarreAlienBiology: The Boov have six legs each, turn colors when experiencing different emotions, discharge gas from appendages that grow out of their head (which also seem to be their noses), have flexible skulls, and apparently have a third form of waste disposal.

* InventionalWisdom: Oh complains about the wisdom of an e-mail system in which "reply" and "reply all" are two giant buttons on the same screen.

* NoOntologicalInertia: Oh's invite will take 42 hours to reach the Gorg, yet canceling the invite immediately stops the signal even though it was mere seconds from reaching them.

* CoolCar: Oh makes a few modifications to Tip's car so it can now hover.

* EarnYourHappyEnding: [[spoiler:Tip and her mother reunite, the Gorg gets the next generation of its race back, and the Boov and humans make peace with each other]].

** [[spoiler:The Gorg also were only acting in self-defense for their kidnapped children.]]

* SinisterGeometry: The Gorg ships are shaped like large, spiky pyramids.

* ThePasswordIsAlwaysSwordfish: The Boov are desperate to access Oh's password, only it turns out to be [[spoiler:a long rambling sentence created with a mentality they can not understand]].
** The rest of the Boov (by order of Captain Smek) all use "Password" as their password.

* LackOfEmpathy: The Boov, embracing a DirtyCoward mentality for their whole society, have absolutely no regard for any of the natives they forcibly relocate as they conquer Earth. When Oh finally gets that perspective and the courage to stand up to Captain Smek about what they are doing to Humanity, ''everything'' changes for them.

* NotSoDifferent: As explained in the end [[spoiler: by Oh, Gorg was simply acting irrationally violent and making poor decisions out of sadness and anger at the Gorg children being essentially kidnapped, which is different from the Boov's BlueAndOrangeMorality but a lot closer to how a human would react.]]

* PapaWolf: [[spoiler:Gorg's attack on the Boov is him being this: the Gorg children were accidentally kidnapped by the Boov and like any parent, he went berserk.]]

* ToiletHumor: Oh drinks "a bowl of lemonade" in a gas station's bathroom.
** Earlier, he rubs a toilet water covered toilet scrubber on his tongue.

* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: [[spoiler:During an attempted peace conference with the Gorg, Captain Smek took a small rock as a souvenir, placing it on his "shusher wand." It is later revealed that the rock actually contains the next generation of Gorg, which is the true reason the Gorg has been chasing the Boov.]]
