* ArchEnemy: Raj has been pursuing Rhiys since before the story. However, Rhiys also claims the mysterious Sam as his nemesis.

* CowboyCop: Although he's just a security guard, Raj seems to be one of these.

* FishOutOfWater: Jolee. Also a CountryMouse and NaiveNewcomer to the city, although she seems pretty weird herself.
* FrenchJerk: Antoine, a restaurant Maitre D', is as snooty as they come, even though he's some kind of cave-dwelling alien.
* ImplacableMan: Raj seems to be one of these. He survives a nuclear explosion with no apparent injury.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Amy and Raj, so far.
* KarmaMeter: Karma Points are a 'cryptocurrency' encouraging citizens to do good deeds (with good and bad results).
* LawOfConservationOfNormality: Despite the bizarre things going on in the first chapter, it's really about the normal problem of making friends in a new city.

* ParodyNames: Seemingly every instance of a BlandNameProduct is played for a joke and logo parody.

* MoodLighting: The entire comic is mood lighting, mostly bright and neon.
* MundaneFantastic: Port Metro is full of wacky exaggerations (explosive hamburgers, alien creatures / cultures, underground cave restaurants). Nobody except Jolee, a newcomer, treats any of these as unusual.
