But she refuses to make friends as it's implied the ones she had in the past only did so due to her wealth and the loss of a friend who strongly resembles Little Strongheart and is implied to either have died because of Applejack or whose death Applejack failed to prevent [[MyGreatestFailure and has blamed herself for ever since]]]].

Applejack in particular has connections to them via her family, as Applebloom is friends with Spike and knows Twilight due to regularly visiting their apartment, and Big Mac is old friends with Soarin and Spitfire, the former of whom acts as an older brother figure to Dash and Fluttershy.

Here, they are shown to be amusement park owners who run a fairly legitimate business and are also good parental substitutes to Trixie, whom they took in after her parents died in a bear attack.
