Because Ben couldn't log in on his [=PuffyZillaman4=] account, Ben Rants was put on hiatus for weeks after his infamous rant on ''WesternAnimation/TheLooneyTunes'' leading speculation that his videos had ended for good. But Ben created a new channel called Benthelooney and the series resumed on July 26th, 2011 after a month and a half hiatus. After 90 videos, Ben Rants finally ended production in December of 2011 with very little fanfare, because Ben wanted to retire from ranting and focus on positive videos. Two months later, after a surprisingly large number/amount of fan requests and Ben Tannehill discovering new topics to talk about, the show was put back into production from February 10, 2012 in which the series became hugely successful and put Ben and his channel on the map. Benthelooney is now one of the most popular "underground" YouTube reviewers and is currently as adored by many YouTube users as PieGuyRulz and RebelTaxi99 with over 5,511 subscribers. Ben retired Ben T. Looney on 13th December, 2013 (although this time because Ben will be too busy and pursuing his dreams of being an animator at college) but will continue production on videos as himself for the sixth and last season.

While in some videos he could get very opinionated and some facts wrong, he mostly dealt with his haters in a polite and mature manner (Much like he did in real life). The original finale "Ben Strikes Back" paints a complete picture that Ben was indeed this.

Ben Rants is a internet rant series created by Ben Tannehill. The series initially debuted in April 10th, 2009 under Ben's [=PuffyZillaman4=] account and was met with mixed results by many YouTube members.

Ben Rants consisted of several different topics in it's initial run, such as rants on TV shows, movies, lists of favorite TV shows and movies and occassionally giving out his thoughts on topics (and one singing segment that Ben deeply regrets). By the end of 2010 and beginning of 2011, the rants started to cause controversy and they were easily one of the most criticised web series on YouTube, only rivalling Guptill89 and [[WebAnimation/MarioTehPlumber Mariotehplumber]] at the time.

regrets).

* {{Flanderization}}: Ben T Looney started off as an exaggerated animated [[AuthorAvatar author avatar]] of Ben Tannehill, but he was much more quieter and had a more laidback tone. Around 2010 this was fleshed out and he started to get angry over certain subjects but despite that still remained the personality of the 2009 videos and continued this throughout in 2011. From 2009 to June of 2012, Ben T Looney was a [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold Jerk With A Heart Of Gold.]] While he was very opinionated, he had nothing against the people that liked him. Following the uncancellation of Ben Rants, Ben Rants and Ben T Looney became more joke based and more of a Jerk Ass to the point of where his videos from the original run are unrecognizable.
** Also, he has changed opinions on certain shows throughout the run of his videos, including WesternAnimation/ScoobyDoo, Franchise/Pokmon, and WesternAnimation/PhineasAndFerb (he doesn't necessarily hate it though, he just thinks the formula has worn thin), and the Rocky and Bullwinkle movie. The same could also be said for his opinions on Pixar (though he explained in a later video that he doesn't really hate them as much as he let on in the rant). He has, however, grown to like some shows he previously hated, such as WesternAnimation/TheAmazingWorldOfGumball, WesternAnimation/AdventureTime, and WesternAnimation/RegularShow.
** His overall rants have suffered flanderization as well. The rants series started off as more serious and stuck to talking about the subject of the rant with an occasional joke thrown in there (much like Chris Lee Moore's TV Trash). But when it was uncancelled, Ben started to put in more jokes as possible to the point of where every rant includes an overload of jokes. This was shortly before Ben decided to turn his avatar into a cartoon character but by the time that he did that and changed the design of his character and got a new microphone, the flanderization completely sunk in. His video "Spit 2000s Kids Say" lampshades the heavy flanderization. Ben states in that video that he feels he's a 2000s kid, but in the first run episode "Ben Rants: Modern Cartoons", he implies that he thinks he's a 90s kid.
*** Neb actually also suffered this to a similar degree, but much more quicker and faster. At first, he was a stereotypical parody of a 2000s fanboy that often acted like a stereotype of the typical "Ben Rants" hater. Several videos later, Neb becomes a homosexual stereotype that often acts like a 5 year old.
**** This has gotten to the point of where Ben has taken a few steps back a bit. He seperates the rants and reviews into two and is more joke focused in the reviews.
* GoshDangItToHeck: Ben doesn't swear in his videos. Instead, he uses words that rhyme with swears in their place. (Ex. spit, truck, witch, etc.) Even more so in the revival.
** He doesn't mind saying "Gay" though.

Because of an error concerning his [=PuffyZillaman4=] account, Ben created a new channel called Benthelooney. After 90 videos, Ben Rants ended production in 2011, because Ben wanted to retire from ranting and focus on positive videos. Two months later, after fan requests, the show was put back into production from February 10, 2012 until ending the series again on the 13th of December, 2013. Despite the show ending, Ben stated that he will continue to make videos as himself.

* WhereAreTheyNowEpilogue: Ben's review of ''Film/YellowSubmarine'' ended with this, fitting because this video is the SeriesFinale.
** Neb T. Yenool started paying attention in school and became more sensitive to others. He's still pwning n00bs in his video games however.
** Looney T. Ben has become a sane man and now works at the St. Louis Zoo.
** Sir Lord Charles Humperdink IV has learned to appreciate art and spends his free time strolling in art museums.
** Negative Nick has become more positive and changed his name to Positive Pete.
** Ben T. Looney tried to audition to be in cartoons, and didn't get any parts. However, he fell in love with Jenny E. Wacky and is now married to her.

** For those of you who still have doubts, the video "The Differences Between Ben T. Looney and Me," pretty much compares his Ben Tannehill's opinions with those of Ben T. Looney. If you happen to be a fan of Pixar, Seth MacFarlane, or Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy, you can rest a little easier once you see that. Also, the "Pixar Rant Aftermath" video.

In 2009 to June of 2012, Ben T Looney was a [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold Jerk With A Heart Of Gold.]] While he was very opinionated, he had nothing against the people that liked him. Following the uncancellation of Ben Rants, Ben Rants and Ben T Looney became more joke based and more of a Jerk Ass to the point of where his videos from the original run are unrecognizable.

* SellOut: Ben Tannehill is often considered this by many of his former fanbase and has been since the 2012 return of his rants for the sake of Ben T Looney's flanderization, change in rants formula, contradicting former opinions (Disliking Phineas and Ferb, Mad, Pokemon and liking Adventure Time and Regular Show), jumping on bandwagons and making Ben T. Looney more shouty. One that is reviled among many previous fans is his "character" excuse which in itself is flanderized from the original claim that he was "acting".

Critic isn\'t all about yelling, the whole point of him is character development.

** Also, he has changed opinions on certain shows throughout the run of his videos, including WesternAnimation/ScoobyDoo, Franchise/Pokemon, and WesternAnimation/PhineasAndFerb (he doesn't necessarily hate it though, he just thinks the formula has worn thin), and the Rocky and Bullwinkle movie.

* SpiritualSuccessor: Chris Lee's Moore WebVideo/TVTrash even though it premiered around the same time that Ben's first run rants were being made, can be seen as this due to The Rowdy Reviewer featuring similar characterization, jokes and focus on subject he is ranting on as Ben did in the first run of his rants. (Seeing as Ben became largely different after uncancelling his rants)
