[[WMG:The relationship between Rick Flag and June Moon (from [[Film/SuicideSquad2016 the previous movie]]), ended between that film and this one; and Flag would have become a love couple with Sol Soria had he not died.]]

The former film ended with Rick Flag and June Moon getting back together again after the villainness was defeated. But in the current film, Rick Flag's interactions with Sol Soria show a lot of UnresolvedSexualTension; they are clearly attracted to each other. Now, Rick Flag was probably single again at the start of this movie; he and June Moon ended the relationship, or she possibly died. Flag and Soria didn't have the opportunity to act on their desires, seeing they were busy in combat, civil war and saving the country/world. However, if Flag had survived, he'd get together with Sol now that Starro and the corrupt regime were gone. Probably he would even choose to stay in Corto Maltese forever, seeing how much he got disappointed with, and betrayed by, Amanda Waller and the American Army in general by the end of the movie.

Maltese and also they can be part of the team in the next movie or in another medium like a series or television special. It would be pretty cute to see them as siblings of Abner and meet Ratcatcher II, even James Gunn explained that Kaleidoscope can be one of Polka Dot Man siblings who survived the experiments of his mother.

* The show could use this as part of a MaybeMagicMaybeMundane explanation for Peacemaker's belief that he can see ghosts, since while the "logical" answer is that he's hallucinating or suffering from PTSD, the presence of the supernatural in the DC universe also allows for the possibility that Peacemaker isn't delusional.

delusional. [[spoiler: This comes partly true in the final episode of Peacemaker's show: he hallucinates his father's ghost ranting at him, with said spirit appearing when Peacemaker is right next to one of his helmets. While Peacemaker acknowledges that this is just a hallucination, it also evokes the idea that his helmet is linked to the souls of the dead.]]

[[WMG: The sequel will have all the surviving members of Task Force X from both movies]]
James Gunn did indeed make sure Deadshot's character wasn't retconned given how he was one of the best characters from the 2016 film so it's possible that they could do the same for the other old cast members. It could allow the old Task Force X to be given more depth like Killer Croc and Katana. And their interactions with the new squad would be interesting. It would also make their potential deaths all the more saddening as we've spent two movies invested in these rogues.
The Squad in the third movie would hence be comprised of:
* Bloodsport
* Deadshot
* Harley Quinn
* Katana
* Ratcatcher II
* King Shark
* Killer Croc
* Weasel
* TDK (his death was never shown, just that he was critically injured and Gunn even confirmed he's alive)
Circumstances for how they get back together is that they could bring back Enchantress and properly do her character

[[WMG: Waller orchestrated the entire film - up to and ''possibly'' including the Squad killing Starro.]]
* Amanda Waller is one of the greatest Chessmasters in the DC Universe itself, and everything in the film is the result of careful planning and precision.
** Blackguard: Waller knows the best way to slip a team in unnoticed is to create a big enough distraction. As the above WMG points out, she must have at least known about the sell-out. If she organized it, she probably tasked it to Blackguard alone and simply told him the team would be taken prisoner instead of killed - hence his surprise when they come out with guns blazing.
** Harley: If General Luna is taken at his word, Harley is a popular figure in Corto Maltese, and Amanda likely knew this and figured out how to exploit it. Notice that Harley is taken prisoner fairly easily, and when Luna finds out he almost seems like he was expecting her to be there. The soldiers on the beach likely had orders to watch for Harley and capture her if necessary. At the same time, Waller knows Harley has a softer side and wouldn't put up with Luna's brutality once she found out about it, and is more than competent enough to kill everyone in her way out of the palace.
** The beach team: Barring Blackguard (who dies immediately), Boomerang (whose weapons are powerful but can only kill a few at a time) Flagg (while skilled, he's just one guy), and Harley (who probably only brought one RPG), everyone on the beach team is a close-range brawler at best. Even Savant, who is described as being an expert marksman, is sent in without a gun. The team as a whole was designed to fail.
** Flagg: More of a XanatosGambit; if he dies on the beach, Waller got rid of someone who would likely expose Starfish rather than follow orders. If he survives, the rest of the team has a competent special forces soldier to add to their ranks, and Waller still has Peacemaker if he gets too far.
** Starro: Here's where things get iffy. While Waller likely didn't expect Peacemaker to (seemingly) bite it, she expected there to be a good chance that Starro would break out, even if a building was collapsed on top of him. From here, things become another XanatosGambit; if the team takes her at her word and leaves, then Corto Maltese is more or less screwed and the U.S. considers it a good development. If they decide to stick around, they kill Starro and Corto Maltese is open to diplomacy. She even says at the end that she turned Bloodsport into a leader. The only possible wrinkle is her not expecting the team to make it out with the data and open her up to blackmail. There's also the point of her team knocking her out, but maybe she predicted that too.

[[WMG: Peacemaker sustained brain damage from his throat injury denying oxygen to his brain, causing him to develop the delusions of his comic counterpart]]
In the comics Peacemaker believes that his helmet contains the souls of the people he's killed and that they speak to him. It would make sense that this incident, combined with the guilt of killing Rick, will cause him to hallucinate both Rick and his deceased father (who has already been cast for the series).

[[WMG: Captain Boomerang faked his death]]
* In the comics, Boomerang tried to commit crimes while on the Suicide Squad by pretending to be fellow Flash Rogue Mirror Master, a character whose equipment allows him to create illusions and teleport through reflections. Perhaps Digger used his colleague's tech here as well, and his glowing boomerang was actually a hologram projector to make it look like he died while he teleported away. It would explain why a notorious coward decided to GoOutWithASmile, and would fit his comic counterpart's knack for surviving against all odds.
