One might return to the ocean and so grow flippers, one might become a TunnelKing and so develop digging claws, one might grow wings, etc.

[[WMG: The sequel will get a general reaction of TheyChangedItSoItSucks]]
All said and done, AttackOfTheFiftyFootWhatever is a critical component of the godzilla formula, but the anthrozillas simply aren't fifty feet tall; as movie monsters, they're better equipped to stalk flashlight-wielding campers at night than to knock over skyscrapers. It will very-likely still be a great movie on it's own merits, but it will be a ''Godzilla'' movie InNameOnly.

* The Godzilla in this film in the first one. After taking the second Godzilla out to sea, he was exposed to enough radiation from the second one that a few cells left on his bones multiplied at an explosive rate, allowing him to eventually regenerate and break out Kiryu. Now thoroughly pissed at humanity for using him to fight one of his own kind, he goes on a war of extinction. Throughout the movie, Godzilla will continue to regenerate until he becomes basically ShodaiGoji, just in time to fight TWO Imago Mothra (the larva in ''SOS'', all grown up), as well as the second Godzilla, who thinks the first one is destroying for the sake of it, while the second Godzilla is always just passing through on his way to a fight or nuclear plant. The movie ends with both Godzillas being killed by a new MechaGodzilla (of a new design), only for a new Godzilla to be revealed after the credits.

[[WMG:The film's U.S. distributor will be Creator/WarnerBrothers]]
* Since Warner Bros. is distributor of their own [[Film/{{Godzilla2014}} movie]], they'll probably release Toho's movies to promote the general franchise and their upcoming Kaiju cinematic universe. This would be even more [[HilariousInHindsight amusing]] given how Warner Bros. had previously released [[Film/GodzillaRaidsAgain another Toho Godzilla movie in the 1950s]].
** Jossed. See above.

[[WMG:The film is a sequel to ''Film/GodzillaTokyoSOS''.]]
The movie ends with both Godzillas being killed by a new MechaGodzilla (of a new design), only for a new Godzilla to be revealed after the credits.
** Jossed. Toho recently released a statement that this film will ignore all other films, including the original, and be the first time Godzilla appears in Japan.

[[WMG: The film will make references to ''Anime/NeonGenesisEvangelion'' and ''Manga/AttackOnTitan'']]

[[WMG: This film will establish a brand new continuity]]
* Instead of going the route of the Millennium films (i.e. making every single film as a direct sequel to the [[Film/{{Gojira}} original 1954 movie]] with no continuity between any of them, with [[Film/GodzillaTokyoSOS one exception]]), this film will instead go the way of the Showa and Heisei era films, with following movies being sequels to this one and being in continuity with each other.

[[WMG: Possibilities for an english-dubbed release]]
# Toho, as with the rest of their Godzilla movies, will commission a SoBadItsGood [[HongKongDub Hong Kong-based international dub]].
# If licensed by Funimation or Warner Bros. as noted above, the movie could receive a "proper" english dub (if licensed by the latter, it's possible they could commission Creator/BangZoomEntertainment to produce the english dub, just as they did with the ''Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventure'' anime).
** Funimation has [[http://www.scifijapan.com/articles/2016/07/21/exclusive-funimation-licenses-godzilla-resurgence/ confirmed]] that they have secured the rights for the film, so a new dub from them is quite likely.
# The movie could simply end up [[AvertedTrope being released sub-only]], as unfortunately many modern fans tend to prefer [[SubbingVersusDubbing watching with subtitles and scorn dubbing in general]].

[[WMG: Godzilla awakens in April 2016]]
* A few days after the April trailer was released, an earthquake struck southern Japan. Followed a few days after by another. Natural disaster, or the king awakening from his slumber?

[[WMG: Godzilla and Godzilla Jr. have somehow fused together.]]
* Godzilla's tail sort of looks like it has a face/spine/etc of its own, particularly [[http://i.imgur.com/VEaxnfn.jpg in this shot.]] It's not out of the realm of possibility that Anno has had Godzilla Jr. forcibly fused into Godzilla for the sake of horror. Why would be the question, however.
** That looks more like a whale's skeleton.

[[WMG: The movie will be a solo Godzilla movie for the most part...]]
* ... but at the end of the movie, possibly as TheStinger hinting at what to expect from a possible sequel, there will be a brief shot of [[Film/GodzillaRaidsAgain what appears to be a mutated ankylosaur-like monster]]...

[[WMG: One possible sequel will be a legit crossover movie with ''Evangelion'']]
* Yes, Toho only teased the idea as an April Fools Day joke, but considering that the fourth and final entry of the ''Anime/RebuildOfEvangelion'' tetralogy has yet to even receive a release date, it could help keep ''Evangelion'' fans satisfied until that project actually goes anywhere. Also, if Creator/LegendaryPictures can make ''Godzilla vs. Kong'' possible, why not?

[[WMG: Godzilla's appearance is a direct result of [[CameBackWrong coming back wrong]] after being hit with the Oxygen Destroyer]]
* Meaning that this movie is a direct sequel to the 1954 original. It '''is''' called ''Resurgence'', after all...
** Jossed. Toho released a statement that this film will be ignoring all other Godzilla films, including the original one. Godzilla Resurgence is only its English title, Shin Gojira, or シン・ゴジラ can mean "New Godzilla", "True Godzilla", or "God Godzilla".
