''Super Dangan Ronpa 2: Good Bye Academy of Despair'' is the sequel to DanganRonpa. Taking place in the same setting as its predecessor, Hajime Hinata, the protagonist, is starting his first day at Hope's Peak Academy, a school he has always admired. However, upon entering the school, Hajime suddenly loses consciousness, and the next thing he knew he's trapped in a classroom with 15 other newly accepted "super" students, gathered for their opening ceremony. They are greeted by a rabbit-like doll Usami, who suddenly declares that they're all going on a school trip. The classroom walls fall apart, and the students find themselves on a tropical resort island of Jabberwock. Knocked to the ground by surprise, Hajime suddenly realizes that he does not remember anything about himself beyond his name, including what his "super" talent is.

While Usami claimed the trip to be a time for getting to know each other better while collecting "Fragments of Hope" needed to get off the island, all was for naught when Monokuma showed up, defeating Usami and claiming administrative control over the island. Much like the previous game, the only way off the island now is to commit the perfect murder and subsequently sacrifice the life of everyone else when they accuse the wrong culprit. While the flow of the game remains largely unchanged, certain mini-games' dynamics have been drastically changed, and new ones have been added to the mix as well.

While the spoiler policy of DanganRonpa will not continue here (there may or may not be a separate page for that), due to the nature of the game's story, please be careful in the use of spoiler tags.
