A second installment in Wargaming.Net's massively popular and critically acclaimed series of combat [=MMOs=], World Of Warplanes follows pretty much the same premise, [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin but with warplanes]], [[CaptainObvious obviously]]. Just as VideoGame/WorldOfTanks you start with a crappy [[TheThirties early-30es]] prop biplane, and grind your way up to the KoreanWar-era second generation jets, with the cutoff apparently being the introduction of radar sights and guided missiles armament. Currently available in the game are [[RedsWithRockets Soviet]], [[NazisWithGnarlyWeapons German]], [[YanksWithTanks American]], [[KatanasOfTheRisingSun Japanese]] and [[BritsWithBattleships British]] planes, although probably not on all servers simultaneously. These are broken into three distinct classes — fighters, which shoot down enemy planes in hpes of achieving the air superiority, ground attack planes that strafe the targets on the ground, earning the superiority points and easing the AA pressure, and the heavy fighters that bridge the gap between them. The game features a somewhat complicated scoring model, awarding the team points for destruction of enemy targets (both in the air and on the ground), with the additional superiority meter that slowly fills up when one of the teams is in the lead, and which is reset when the enemy team scores. A team wins when this meter is full or all enemy planes are shot down, the latter being the notably more frequent occurrence. It was released worldwide on 13'th of November 2013 after more than two years of development and testing, and is currently in the deployment phase, so to speak.

RareVehicles: A lot of flyable planes in the game either belong to the purely "paper projects", or existed only as a couple of prototypes.

* ThatOneLevel: National Park and Pacific Ocean maps. Probably not from their difficulty as levels — your main opponents are the other players, not the terrain — but from their sheer repetitiveness: there are relatively few maps in the game, so if your current plane is between Tier III to Tier VII, you can rest assured that you'd get National Park for probably at least 75% of your battles. Pacific Ocean is basically the same, but or Tiers V to VIII.

* AntiAir: Basically, the game's [=NPCs=] in form of AI-controlled anti-air guns that can be pretty annoying, especially [[GlassCannon to the fighters]], while ground attack planes [[MightyGlacier may largely ignore them]]. When the enemy HQ is destroyed, their efficiency is greatly diminished.

* GlassCannon: The game's fighters can be pretty heavily armed, especially in their most upgraded form, and are exceptionally fast and agile, but their [=HPs=] aren't worth a damn.

* GuyInBack: Many ground attack planes and heavy fighters sport a computer-controlled gunner that generally isn't very efficient, but can sometimes decide whose plane is being shot now — yours or the enemy's. This guy is [[FanNickname commonly dubbed]] "[[UsefulNotes/RussianNamingConvention Mihalych]]" if on a Soviet plane, or "machinegunner Hans" when on a German one.

* MightyGlacier: Ground-attack planes are flying arsenals that deal ridiculous amount of damage to their dirtside targets, sport insane amounts of [=HPs=] and can easily one-shot fighters... if only they could bring their guns to bear, as these lumbering behemoths are usually so ponderous that they are in a constant danger of crashing into the ground due to ill-conceived maneuver.

* MutualKill: A somewhat frequent outcome, either in the case of a [[RammingAlwaysWorks deliberate ramming]] of a head-on attack, or as an unintentional result of too tight a dogfight.
