* YouAreTooLate: Towards the end of the game's first chapter, a fight between the gangs and the Troubleshooter/VHPD alliance leads to the death of a few cops, including one named Joel, who refused to let local WhiteMage Anne participate in battle because she could get hurt. This affects the mood of all involved, and inspires Irene (who realizes that her "lone hero" shtick means she's either been late to or ends up interfering with Albus' missions) and Anne (who has some SurvivorsGuilt from only being allowed on battlefields when it's too late to save lives) to later join Albus' team.

* OurDragonsAreDifferent: Draki are essentially treated as an invasive pest despite being classic Western dragons. All of them are associated with a specific element and there are two variants for each: a smaller flier that solely uses breath attacks from range, and a larger more developed melee fighter. Neither variant can be tamed by [[TheBeastmaster The Beastmaster]] Giselle. [[spoiler:Unless they just hatched]]

* SelfFulfillingProphecy: There's a painter that became famous because one of his paintings was a prediction of the Catastrophe, an event that destroyed part of Valhalla and killed thousands of people, making people thing he was some kind of a prophet. When he painted a plaza no one had ever seen, someone in power decided to go and build the place, naming it after the painter.

* {{Cult}}: Spoonism. Hierarchal, collectivist, personality-destroying (members all wear white masks, and [[spoiler: it is later revealed that their leader is a LegacyCharacter, who has been portrayed by a number of people with roughly the same build and power-set]]), more heavily armed than most criminal organizations and hell-bent on razing society. [[spoiler: It seems that Spoonism may have been a kooky but legitimate religion in the past, but become increasingly radicalized by growing inequality and Carter's rising influence.]]
* FamilyOfChoice: A group of children (including Cater, Ray, Heixing and Leton) from [[WrongSideOfTheTracks the Alley]] had to stick together to survive, to such an extent that some of them choose "Alley" as their last name.

Character tropes have been moved to the "characters"-tab

* TheCaretaker: A villainous version, as a gang leader named Marco is the guardian of [[spoiler:Luna Estina]], whose power when bloodthirsty is something that even he fears.
* ChainsawGood: The weapon of choice of [[spoiler:Luna Estina]].
* ColdSniper: The party's sniper Giselle is noticeably less friendly than even Heixing, frequently experiencing friction between herself and the less experienced Troubleshooters and at certain points setting Albus against the rest of the group.

* DanceBattler: Leton Alley, whose default class is "Dancer" [[spoiler:and later has "Superstar" as a promotion option]].
* DecoyProtagonist: Irene is the focal character for a few early missions, and is even the face of the series on [[https://store.steampowered.com/app/470310/TROUBLESHOOTER_Abandoned_Children/ the store page]], but Albus is the main hero and Heixing, as one of the titular Abandoned Children of Alley, has the greatest connection to the main plot.

* FluffyTamer: Giselle, another licensed Troubleshooter, can learn abilities that let her recruit wild beasts that have been attacking humans.
* ForGreatJustice: Irene's defining character trait.

* TheGunslinger: Heixing's weapon of choice is DualWielding sub-machine guns.
* HeroesPreferSwords: Albus' default class is Swordsman.
* TheLancer: Sion, a quirky [[BlackMage Elementalist]] and Albus' partner from the start.
* TheLeader: Albus, the main protagonist and focal character of the story.

* MagicKnight: Albus has the potential to become one of these by upgrading his class.
* TheMentor: Giselle, who was the leader of a Troubleshooter group Albus was a part of before he left to form his own.
* MissingMom: Albus became a Troubleshooter because his mother was killed during a war between the gangs and Troubleshooters a decade before the game takes place.

* PlayingWithFire: Irene's abilities specialize in this, as well as physical strikes.

* RetiredBadass: Don Bruce, owner of the bar "Silverlining", also happens to be an ex-Troubleshooter from a group still feared by gangs 10 years later.
* SquishyWizard: An option for most characters with an elemental ESP type, although Sion, being a more traditional [[BlackMage Black Mage]], fits the archetype the most.

* TagalongKid: Anne, the WhiteMage, and the only potential member of the team that is too young to order alcohol at "Silverlining".
* TheUnfettered: Irene, who is so focused on being heroic that she tends to not think things through.
