Fights using [[TheGambler gambling-themed attacks]], a knife, and [[FamilyFriendlyFirearms laser pistols]]. She is exclusive to the {{PS3}} version.

* ArmorPiercingQuestion: Played straight and then it backfires. [[spoiler: Flynn asks Yuri "Would you kill me too?". Yuri answers back "If you became a villain I would have to." Pretty much Yuri is telling Flynn not to lost himself.]]

* ShoutOut - Multiple, including the Fiertia's pilot being named [[TalesOfTheAbyss Tokunaga]] and a couple of kids in the desert town of Montaic being named [[ArabianNights Alph and Layla.]]

** Judith does this ''all the time''. It's like big red arrows going SHE KNOWS SOMETHING. If only the rest of the cast could see her speech bubbles, WeCouldHaveAvoidedAllThis!

In terms of critical reception, the game is widely considered to be the best ''Tales'' title since ''[[TalesOfSymphonia Symphonia]]'', and there are some who consider it possibly the best overall. It was certainly a darling of reviewers on both sides of the Pacific, and is the second-best-selling (and best-reviewed) title overall in the franchise, behind ''Symphonia''.

** Raven subverts this trope heavily, saying something besides his move's name for everything except his spells. For example, he shouts 'All my heart!' for Bouquet, and 'Such grace!' for Just Like Dancing.

* HoYay - Zagi wants to carve Yuri's name into his own blood! He pretty much spends a lot of his time hunting Yuri down as well. Yuri does not return the feeling in any way.
** Yuri and Flynn's relationship has more than a few hints of this, as well.
** Rita and Estelle have some pretty big LesYay moments too.
** [[spoiler:Duke and Elucifer]], anyone?

* LeaningOnTheFourthWall: One of Karol's costumes is nothing but a towel. Leaving it on for long enough starts a skit where all the girls avoid him. At one point he says "You're mean! You made me wear this because you [[VideoGameCrueltyPotential thought it would be funny!]]", and the other party members deny making him do anything, much to Karol's confusion.
* LesYay - Estelle and Rita. So much.
** [[LampshadeHanging Lampshaded]] by Karol in one of the victory skits.
** A subliminal joke in Nam Cobanda Island, in a quick play. One's a hero, one's the damsel to save, guess who plays who? [[spoiler:Estelle's the hero and Rita's the damsel Estelle has to save. Then there's the impromptu twist when Rita fries the play's antagonist...]]
** Yuri adds fuel to the fire in a skit triggered by using Rita's Levitation skill for the first time by calling them [[PortmanteauCoupleName Ristelle]] when Rita is flying and Estelle is holding on to her legs.[[invoked]]
** Made even more evident in the PS3 version, including a scene where they [[spoiler:care for a lost infant together.]]
** One sidequest shows the group at the time (Yuri, Karol, Rita, Estelle, and Repede, the last of which is nowhere to be seen at the time) resting in an inn. On three beds. Guess who are ''sleeping in the same bed together.''

* MyDearIdiot: Rita Mordio. If used with Repede, she first refers to him as "dog". If you continue to use them together, she starts to warm up to him and affectionately calls him, Spot, instead. By game's end, she calls him by his own name. Basically going from:

* ThirtyGambitPileup: They do this, which leads to that, while they were already doing something else, which brings out new problems, which leads to another problem, while this is going on behind the scenes, [[RandomEventsPlot which throws this in the way of that]], [[ArcFatigue which causes this to happen in the middle of that other thing]]... Getting it yet?

** It's also Yuri's Link Attack in ''{{Tales of Hearts}}''.

* TheCameo - [[TalesOfPhantasia Dhaos]], [[TalesOfEternia Shizel]], [[TalesOfDestiny Barbatos]], and [[TalesOfSymphonia Kratos]] are all opponents in the coliseum's 200-Man Melee. Kratos also serves as the [[spoiler:"Traitor to Heaven," the final boss of the BonusDungeon.]]

It later received an UpdatedRerelease for the {{Playstation 3}}, which in turn led to an extreme amount of outrage from people who had bought an Xbox 360 ''specifically'' for Vesperia. Debate rages on whether or not Namco Bandai released a deliberately unfinished game (or DummiedOut parts) with the intention of releasing the "complete" version for the {{PS3}}, where it was expected to make the majority of sales. A FanTranslation of the PS3 version is also in progress [[http://talesofvesperia.net/ here]], by the same team behind the ill-fated TalesOfGraces FanTranslation.

** The {{PS3}} version gives every party member at least one previous Tales characters' clothing, one ingame and more as DLC. Yuri gets [[TalesOfDestiny Judas]], [[TalesOfTheAbyss Asch]], and [[TalesOfHearts Creed]]; Flynn gets [[TalesOfPhantasia Cless]], [[TalesOfTheAbyss Luke]], and [[TalesOfTheTempest Lukius]]; Estelle gets [[TalesOfLegendia Chloe]], [[TalesOfTheAbyss Tear]], and [[TalesOfDestiny2 Elraine]]; Repede gets [[TalesOfTheTempest Caius]] and [[TalesOfInnocence Asras]]; Karol gets [[TalesOfSymphonia Lloyd]] and [[VideoGame/TalesOfRebirth Milhaust]]; Rita gets [[VideoGame/TalesOfRebirth Mao]] and [[TalesOfLegendia Walter]]; Raven gets [[TalesOfInnocence Ricardo]] and [[TalesOfTheAbyss Van]]; Judith gets [[TalesOfDestiny Rutee]] and [[TalesOfSymphonia2 Richter]]; and Patty gets [[TalesOfTheAbyss Anise]] and [[TalesOfSymphonia Mithos]]. ** Perhaps to emphasize this point, a preorder bonus for the [=PS3=] version (in Japan, at least) gives Yuri and Flynn [[TalesOfTheAbyss Asch and Luke]] costumes respectively, who are also DifferentAsNightAndDay.

** The {{PS3}} version includes even more DLC in the form of more costumes: the ''TalesOfTheAbyss'' costumes for Yuri, Estelle, and Flynn, a [[{{Narm}} hilariously scene-breaking]] [[KeroroGunsou Sgt. Frog]] costume for Karol, and Yuri and Flynn's Imperial Knight armor from the prequel movie ''The First Strike''.

** The requirements for some of the second [[LimitBreak Mystic Artes]] in the {{PS3}} version. [[spoiler:Notably Rita's Indignation; you unlock it by basically reenacting the opening of ''TalesOfPhantasia''.]]

Is [[TheAce extremely talented]], though LawfulGood to a fault. His name is said to mean "Friend".

* DifferentAsNightAndDay - Granted, they're not twins, but still: Yuri has long, dark hair, wears dark clothes, is firmly on the side of Chaotic Good, is a DeadpanSnarker, and wields his sword in his left hand. Flynn has short, blond hair, is clad in shiny white-and-blue armor, is Lawful Good to a [[LawfulStupid fault]], is unfailingly polite to almost everyone, and wields his sword in his right hand.
