A massive uplift, in other words. The Chitik receive this huge gift from you, upgrade their ships, and continue relentlessly attacking you for no good reason.

A follow-up title, ''VideoGame/StarcomUnknownSpace'', is scheduled to enter Early Access on December 14, 2022. According to the developer, ''Unknown Space'' will be a stand-alone game that is based on ''Nexus'''s style and gameplay without being a direct sequel, featuring new characters and alien races, a new story, and a new universe to explore.

* FasterThanLightTravel: Paying attention to the speed unit (AU/s) reveals that all ships move at FTL speeds almost constantly[[note]]An AU (Astronomical Unit) is the distance between the Sun and Earth. Light takes an average of slighty more than 8 minutes to cross one AU, so 1 AU/s equals 480 times the speed of light. Ships in ''Starcom: Nexus'' can easily reach 200 AU/s and more[[/note]]. The problem is that getting anywhere can still take a long time (a galaxy is friggin' ''huge'' after all), so the game is kind enough to provide numerous technologies to enable faster faster-than-light travel.

* ItsUpToYou: Initially quite justified, in that you are in command of the only Starcom ship in the Xeno galaxy. Strange, however, that Kite Station can rebuild your ship from scratch to ''any'' specification or design, but can't produce more ships... This may be explained by the station's inability to construct bridge modules, the core of your ship and presumably all others. It's possible the bridge module blueprint was lost during the rift transit and never recovered, preventing the construction of new ships.
