* DevilInPlainSight[=/=]ObviouslyEvil: [[EvilChancellor Chancellor Geron]], an ObstructiveBureaucrat and (in the 3rd game) open racist, is pretty clearly secretly allied with the EvilArmy in the first game and obviously does not have the Kingdom's best interests at heart in the remaining two games. However, neither the heroic King Richard or the powerful sorceress Dawn ever suss onto the fact the man is clearly up to no good ([[spoiler: although you finally get a chance to get even with him at the very end of the 3rd game]]).

He dismisses all the good Luther does and heroes of Gladstone allying with him as Luther being a devious schemer who orchestrated everything to make himself appear noble. Eventually he freezes to death on Luther's trail in the Claw Mountains.

* DeadGuyOnDisplay: In the second game, the Draracle has the corpse of the god Belial (whom he himself executed) on display in his museum. The museum guide explains that the corpse is there "not as a trophy, but as a warning."

* WhatCouldHaveBeen: Dawn, the mage that got trapped in a crystal ball within Castle Cimmeria, was originally meant to be playable from the point you rescue her. She's still in the code, just not implemented.
** In Lands of Lord III, most of the guilds and guild quests are unfinished. The thieves guild in particular, you simply show up, receive your pet, and then never need to go back. It is possible to glitch your way past a 'locked' door to find a fully functional target range, that was presumably to be used in your 'initiation' quest. Likewise, the mage guild final quest is immediately completed... upon entering an empty room. You were SUPPOSED to get a quest to rescue one of the wizards, who would be present in that room. Instead the programmers just got lazy.

If you don't do this and just keep fighting her, she'll eventually transform into a creature that's flat-out invincible. At this point there's nothing you can do to harm her, and might as well reset from your last save.

!!This videogame series provides examples of:

* AbsurdlySpaciousSewer: Beneath Gladstone. An ''[[ThievesGuild entire guild]]'' has its headquarters there.
* AllPowerfulBystander: The Draracle in ''Lands of Lore 1''
* AWinnerIsYou: The good ending of LOL 2 is '''INCREDIBLY''' underwhelming.
* BigBoosHaunt: The Dark Halls, the Underworld.
* BiologicalMashup: The winged spiders.
* ChainmailBikini: The amazons in the White Tower.
* CommonplaceRare: The silverleaf in LOL 2, my goodness, the silverleaf.
* DeadpanSnarker: Luther, protagonist of LOL 2.
** The third level of the White Tower is hilariously easy in a second playthrough if you remember that [[GameBreaker the Vaelan's Cube that you find that is meant for breaking open Yvel can also be used to nuke ghosts, like the spectral Cabal Warriors or the Wraiths, ad infinitum...]]
* EvilCostumeSwitch: Dawn gets one in the evil ending path of ''Lands of Lore 2''. However, she hasn't actually turned evil; she's just wearing a dark and seductive costume to lull Evil Luther into complacency so she can assassinate him.
* {{Familiar}}: You can have one accompany you in the third game.
* FauxFirstPerson3D: The first game.
* FromNobodyToNightmare: [[spoiler: Jakel]] goes through this in the 3rd game, after spending the first two games as a minor secondary supporting character.
* GameBreakingBug: In LOL 1, a common bug in the Urbish Mines permanently disables the stairwell to level 2. In LOL 2, the automatic save feature has a tendency to "save" your game at extremely inopportune moments.
* HalfHumanHybrid: Copper, LOL 3's protagonist, is human on his father's side and dracoid on his mother's side.
* HeroicBastard: Copper again.
* IntercontinuityCrossover: The last world Copper visits in LOL 3 is [[spoiler: that of CommandAndConquer (the Tiberian series), another game by Westwood.]]
* InvoluntaryShapeshifting: Luther's curse, causing him to change into a lizard or a huge beast at random. You later get some measure of control over it.
* JackOfAllStats: Conrad.
* {{Jerkass}}: Copper. Seriously, the guy is a prick. No wonder no-one likes him.
* LargeHam: ''PatrickStewart'' -- yes, ''that'' Patrick Stewart -- as King Richard, and he does it very well. And the Draracle. The series had excellent voice acting for the most part.
* LethalLavaLand: Volcania, home of the dragons.
* LittleBitBeastly: The Huline tribe in the Huline Jungle.
** PettingZooPeople: The Hulines known as the Wild Ones, another tribe living in the Savage Jungle.
* MarsNeedsWomen: The Ruloi. Yes, they have this trope in a {{Fantasy}} series!
* MeatMoss: Belial's laboratory.
* MookMaker: if you don't immediately [[KillItWithFire immolate]] the avian worms' nests in the Urbish Mines, this is what you'll get.
* MultipleEndings: LOL 2.
* PreviousPlayerCharacterCameo: Copper meets Luther in LOL 3.
* SaveScumming: May be your only hope in certain places, especially if you have no manual to help you.
* SchrodingersPlayerCharacter: In LOL 1. The second game seems to hint that the Huline player character is the "canonically" hero of LOL 1.
* SpritePolygonMix: LOL 2 and 3.
* SquishyWizard: Ak'Shel.
* SuperDrowningSkills: In LOL 1.
* ThievesGuild: The Bachanal.
* TrialAndErrorGameplay in certain areas unless you [[GuideDangIt constantly consult the manual]].
* TheUnderworld: Visted in the third game.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen: Dawn, the mage that got trapped in a crystal ball within Castle Cimmeria, was originally meant to be playable from the point you rescue her. She's still in the code, just not implemented.
* WombLevel: The Mother Beast.
