I asked with people who have played this game, apparently a Str-screwed Ike cannot damage the final boss, so there is a possibility of getting softlocked in the final chapter if Ike can't damage Ashnard and Ena/Nasir is dead.

Added DiffLines:

* UnwinnableByDesign: If you're playing on Hard mode (this also applies to Maniac in the Japanese version), you might get softlocked and unable to defeat Ashnard's first phase if: 1. Ike's Strength is not enough that he does no damage even with Ragnell; 2. he doesn't have his occult skill Aether and you don't have an occult scroll to use on him; and 3. Your Dragon Laguz (either Ena or Nasir) is dead. The option to call aid from a Royal Laguz (Giffca / Tibarn / Naesala) isn't available until the second phase is not possible until you defeat the first phase at least, so if Ike cannot damage Ashnard and your Dragon Laguz is also dead, it would be impossible to complete the game outside of starting over from the beginning or a prior savefile.

* HealerSignsOnEarly: Rhys joins as early as the second chapter and Mist joins at the start of the Begnion arc, which is fortunate because you don't get another dedicated healer until well into the last part of the game and have to promote a Mage and give them Staves to get more staff access.

* Nerf: Tellius introduced some balance changes to some of the stronger classes in previous installments.
** Zig-zagged with Cavaliers and Paladins, while they're limited to either one and two weapons respectively to limit their control on the weapon triangle, they also get Canto to let them use up their remaining movement after anything, even after attacking.
** The pre-promoted Sages Calill and Bastian come with the Knives (new Sage promotion option) rather than traditional Staves to prevent them from eclipsing your earlier Mages like Pent or Saleh did; as such the unpromoted Mages that join you are free to pick Staves.

** Making Jill fight her own former comrades is mean enough, but having her fight her own father can get you punished with her defecting from your army, unless you've built up her supports with Mist or Lethe. The game even tries to warn you away from this by Ike offering to let her stay away from the front lines during some unique dialogue at the start.

** The Tellius class changes seem to emphasize the uniqueness of Greil's family's style of swordsmanship and makes sword usage harder to come by than most games, giving Ike's quest to equal or surpass his father's skill with a sword more narrative weight:
*** The Mercenary/Hero line is noticeably absent for recruitable, friendly, and enemy units, having been arguably merged into Ike's Ranger/Lord class and Greil's Hero class, since the latter can also use axes .
*** As for Mist, the Valkyrie class is exclusive to her (and one NPC) and she gains sword usage on promotion for the first and only time. It must run in the family.

* MagikarpPower: Characters of this archetype are expected in the series, but the trope is both played with and played straight for multiple units in Ike's army:
** Mist joins in Chapter 9 as a level 1 Cleric when the rest of the army is around level 10. Her fragility makes her even more vulnerable than she already would be as a support unit that can't fight, but keep her safe and she gets to promote to a Valkyrie... which turns out to require further babying due to gaining the use of basic swords but possessing a rather lackluster Strength stat. Grind her to B rank proficiency in swords, however, and she becomes the only unit capable of making good use of the rare magic swords, finally turning her into a competent combatant with high mobility and damage, who also happens to be mandatory to win the duel against the Black Knight.
** Rolf joins alongside Mist also at level 1 and will likely come out stronger than his tutor Shinon if fully trained, but doesn't boast particularly notable strengths otherwise.
** Sothe subverts expectations by joining a few chapters later, also at level 1, but boasting the unique Blossom skill increasing all of his growth rates to appear as if he's worth raising. However, it turns out that he, unlike Volke, cannot promote, and so has his potential quickly hard-capped.
** Astrid joins a chapter later, now bringing a level 1 Bow Knight into the fray, but comes with the Paragon skill to double experience gain and allow her to grow out of the Magikarp stage with lightning speed, reaching her potential much sooner.
** Tormod joins the army latest of the bunch at only level 7, with rather middling combat potential, but has his unique Celerity skill to make him the most mobile mage in the army if trained up.

**Recruiting Marcia is simple enough because you just have to have Ike talk to her in her intro chapter and then later she'll show up again and run up to Ike to recruit herself into your army for good. The problem is, that, if you don't know about the Talk function before this chapter you won't realize that this is what you have to do in order to recruit Marcia. The Talk tutorial doesn't pop up until a later chapter when Mia appears, and even then Mia will run up to Ike and recruit herself. First time Fire Emblem players sometimes miss Marcia as a result.

** It's also mentioned that the beast Laguz in general are this, probably due to the energy needed to transform, and the animals they transform into are large carnivores. And it's also said that Ike's appetite is about as big as theirs.
* BlackKnight: Its worth mentioning that the game actually has two distinct characters that fit the Black Knight persona to different degrees and in their own ways; besides the "Black Knight" himself, there is also Bertram.

Bottling up the truth makes him become gradually (even more) meaner and more upset during briefings until the earliest time he can .
