''Defiance'' was a MassivelyMultiplayerOnline ThirdPersonShooter developed by Trion Worlds, released on April 2, 2013 for the PC, UsefulNotes/PlayStation3 and UsefulNotes/Xbox360, and serving as a tie-in for the [[Series/{{Defiance}} TV series]].

In July 2018, the game was relaunched as ''Defiance 2050'' with better graphics, rebalanced gameplay, items, weapons and events, and was also released on the UsefulNotes/PlayStation4 and UsefulNotes/XboxOne. However, this version co-existed with the original game, which received the {{retronym}} ''Defiance 20'''13'''''.

** Season 4 only had one episode which introduces the Neo-Votanis Front as the successors of Dark Matter, and the revelation that the Shrill have a HiveMind, with the episode ending with the Captain Grant believing that the destruction of their base was not going the last they would see of them.

After 8 years, ''Trion Worlds'' announced in February 2021 that the servers of the game -- including the ''2050'' version -- would be shut down in April 29 due to the games no longer being profitable enough to keep going.
