The Islamic Republic of Pakistan is a nation in South Asia that was formed from the Muslim majority provinces of TheRaj. At the time of its formation, it consisted of two halves seperated by 2000 miles of India. The Eastern half eventually revolted and became Bangladesh, after which West Pakistan simply became Pakistan.

In practice however, Pakistan acts more like TheEmpire, with Punjab as the imperialist power and the other provinces as its colonial holdings. Part of this is due to the fact that many of TheRaj's infrastructures were not modified in any major way by any of the succeeding governments. However, the main reason is that the Pakistan Army (which is mostly Punjabi) is the only institution that isn't incompetent and corrupt beyond function (which isn't saying much). For more than half of the country's 60 year existence, it has been under Army rule with inept and just as authoritarian civillian governments running the show between military dictators.
