** In 2018, four years after his suicide, it was revealed that [[WebVideo/YouCanPlayThis Justin "JewWario" Carmical]] was a sexual predator who assaulted at least two women, and that one of those attacks was the previously undisclosed reason he had been let go from Channel Awesome shortly before his passing. After these crimes came to light, former Channel Awesome producers took down {{Crossover}} collaborations with Justin, excised or replaced his {{Cameo}}s in their videos, and removed [=JewWario=] hats that had been prominently placed on their sets in tribute to him (this even extended to creators not affiliated with Channel Awesome - [[WebVideo/CinematicExcrement Smeghead]], for instance, took down his review of ''Anime/TheGreatMissionToSavePrincessPeach'', which had been made in tribute to [=JewWario=], after the allegations came out). WebVideo/MarzGurl, who had made the movie ''Film/FarewellFamiKamenRider'' in Justin's memory, averted this by deciding to keep that movie online for "historical purposes", while stating she would have ''never'' made it if she was told about Justin's true nature and adding a disclaimer to the movie making it clear that it no longer reflected her opinion of him. WebVideo/DiamandaHagan also kept her reviews featuring him, but closed the comments and noted that she was keeping them because otherwise "that'd be like denying I made it", and she never wants to see any of those videos again.

** The first WhamEpisode can be summed up as this trope happening to one of the top players as part of what seems to be a RevealingCoverup. The webseries and novel versions make it quite clear that anything done by the player's avatar never happened, up to having a character actually say something along the lines of "[That avatar] not longer exists. Actually, it has never existed.".

None of these characters were un-personed. They simply aren't affiliated with their old agencies anymore.

* Being a Japan-based VirtualYouTuber company, WebAnimation/{{Hololive}} has a policy of cutting ties with, and removing content by, talents that breach their contracts and are subsequently terminated:
** The most well-known example would be Hitomi Chris, the first ex-member of hololive, and the only one who has essentially never been mentioned since she left. She was fired shortly after her debut in June 2018 when hololive was still just getting off the ground, and internet speculation has very little to go on. It's likely that the truth of the matter will never be entirely known. All that remains of her channel is her debut stream.
** Aloe Mano [[AvertedTrope is not a case of this]], rather she was merely suspended for two weeks after she accidentally leaked sensitive information about herself through a [=Live2D=] and garnered harassment as a result. While she was initially intended to return, before the suspension period was up [[https://www.reddit.com/r/Hololive/comments/ijogcy/important_announcement_regarding_mano_aloe/ Aloe "graduated" from the group]], citing that she was not physically or mentally well to return. Her fellow Fifth Generation members, however, still talk about her at times, having stayed in contact with her. Despite this, she was completely removed from the official Hololive website.
** A somewhat lesser take on this trope resulted from Uruha Rushia's termination at the end of Feburary 2022 [[https://www.reddit.com/r/Hololive/comments/t03p7x/notice_regarding_termination_of_our_contract_with/ due to violating NDA through leaking and misinformation]]. Given that Rushia had been active for just over two and a half years, had well over a million subscribers, and also had the record for highest amount of revenue generated by Youtube super chats, completely unpersoning her in the manner Hitomi Chris was is impossible. Nevertheless, Rushia has been removed from most materials and her channel was closed on March 31st following a grace period. During the [=HoloFes=] 2022 event (which took place a few weeks after her termination), any solo merchandise was removed but any merchandise that featured her alongside other members was still available. Notably, an artbook that boasted details about every active Hololive member still contains Rushia's details but a legal disclaimer was added mentioning that the book details "every active Hololive member as of February 2022", presumably when the book was actually printed. Like with Aloe, Hololive members stress they aren't unpersoning her or making her name taboo. Despite her being removed from the official Hololive website, she still present on the site as part of group pictures.
*** In an unfortunate instance of an accidental unpersoning, the banner for the aforementioned [=HoloFes=] still included Rushia... but removed Fourth Generation Member Himemori Luna instead. General fan suspicion is that whoever was tasked with removing Rushia got her mixed up with Luna instead, due to both having 3 syllable names beginning with the katakana ル (which can be used for both Ru- or Lu-).
* Jitomi Monoe was released from WebVideo/VOMSProject in February 2021 due to a "[[https://twitter.com/GYARI_/status/1362649351755943937/photo/1 breach of contract]]". While GYARI did confirm that her channel and twitter account would be wiped off their respective platforms, any collabs she did with fellow VOMS Project members Pikamee and Tomoshika, or other Vtubers could stay up (as opposed to asking that they be taken down). However, whatever she did to breach her contract was apparently serious enough that the debut of the two members of the 2nd generation treat her as if she never existed, as their two members [[https://pbs.twimg.com/media/E_FHKD_XoAQFdX_.png:large have in their respective profiles "@VOMS_Project No.03" and "@VOMS_Project No.04"]], rather than "04" and "05" like one would expect.
