*** Three characters had voices changed for the second time: Miroku and Shippo firstly had their voices changed in the movies, and they were replaced again in Yashahime. Myoga's voice, on the other hand, is justified: its first voiceover does lesser voice acting roles nowadays (even in the dubbing studio in which this anime was produced, where he works as a director), and its second voiceover died before completing the series.

Character Outlives Actor is where "a character on a TV series is still alive off-screen (referred to by on-screen characters, writes letters, etc.) but his/her actor has died." However, since Miroku and Kagome's grandfather are still alive on screen, those examples don't count.

* CharacterOutlivesActor:
** Creator/KoujiTsujitani, Miroku's original Japanese voice actor, suffered a fatal stroke on October 17, 2018, which led to his character being recast with Creator/MakotoYasumura.
** Creator/KirbyMorrow, Miroku's original English voice actor, died on November 18, 2020, weeks after reprising his role in the first episode of Yashahime. It was later announced that Creator/IanJamesCorlett would succeed him as Miroku in February 2021.
** Though Grandpa Higurashi was already voiced by a new actor, any appearances after Season One will come after the death of original English VA French Tickner. William Frederick Knight, who replaced Tickner, himself later died.

*** Creator/IanJamesCorlett took over as Miroku after Creator/KirbyMorrow passed away not long after the first episode of the English dub aired. This is somewhat appropriate, considering this isn't the first time the two have shared roles.

Several Japanese sources have been provided to the person who deleted to confirm that "hogosha" refers to a "person in place of a parent" and "guardian" and is not a romantic term. The only "biased" translation are people claiming it can be used romantically by providing out of context uses of the word. Both Rumiko and Narita Ken used it in its actual meaning, which is a "parental figure".

** Creator/KenNarita, Sesshomaru's Japanese voice actor, has twice expressed his opinion that he doesn't view as a love interest to Sesshomaru, but likewise sees him more like her parental figure/guardian. He was very confused at the reveal that Sesshomaru had kids, feeling it doesn't fit his character, and states that he overall sees Yashahime Sesshomaru as an "alternative universe" version of the original character. On the other hand, he feels he would be up to the challenge in portraying him as a father.

Both of these seem to use biased translations that I can only find on Twitter or Tumblr. And the same translation sees in any case that Narita could only see Sesshomaru marrying Rin. Frankly, they both seem to be apart of an agenda, in my opinion, that was to discredit a (highly controversial) ship.
