As confirmed in a [[https://youtu.be/0gxdmMYRnUQ Q&A]] with Creator/ChristianPotenza, Creator/CartoonNetwork wanted to market to a younger audience and believed the original ''WesternAnimation/TotalDrama'', a hosting series that focused on college-aged characters, did not trend well, leading to the creation of a spinoff starring younger versions of the ''Total Drama'' cast.

* DiedDuringProduction: In the Italian dub, Roberto Draghetti (the returning voice actor for Chef Hatchet) died of a fatal heart attack on July 24, 2020. Since the first season was already finished in Italy, Chef was fortunately recasted with Dario Oppido for the rest of the franchise.

It was played straight for Ana Lucia Menezes, who came back as the voice of Bridgette. She passed away a week earlier on April 20 from a COVID-related stroke. ** For now, the only characters confirmed to be recast in the Brazilian Portuguese dub are Courtney and Noah. Iara Riça (who would retire from dubbing in 2020 and later pass away on April 27, 2021) was denied the chance to return and was replaced by Hannah Buttel, while Ettore Zuim moved from Rio de Janeiro (the place where the series is dubbed) to São Paulo and was replaced by Hércules Fernando.
