* KeepCirculatingTheTapes: For a very long time, the only way to see any of the aforementioned content was to hope someone had posted the original .swf files online somewhere, or else had recorded a screencap of them. In preparation for the end of Flash, however, Niosi uploaded all of the original .swf files (with some [[GeorgeLucasAlteredVersion quality-of-life changes]]) onto a public-access Google Drive, just in case the Newgrounds versions of the original material became unviewable as a result. In 2023, the entire series was uploaded to Niosi's [=YouTube=] channel.

* ActorAllusion:

** Asterob's, hat glasses, and his tendency to use mannerisms portraying him as an apologetic brit have been said by Niosi to be a reference to the actor who plays him.
** Ravenfreak's voice actor is... well, [[ShapedLikeItself a voice actor]] (Lucien Dodge to be precise).
** In episode 4, Rockoon, in exasperation after having been constantly misidentified as a rodent, exclaims "Do I ''look'' like a lab rat?" His voice actor, Deven Mack Jr., played the character of Lab Rat in ''WesternAnimation/{{Grossology}}''.
*** In addition, while taunting Nylocke's dramatic tone, Mack performs a voice similar to the one he uses to perform ''WebAnimation/{{DotDotDot}}'', complete with kinetic typography.

* ActorSharedBackground: The characters in TTA and TOME are all based on users from, the now defunct, TV Tome forums to an extent.
* [[DVDCommentary Audio Commentary]]: All of the Episodes have creator commentaries, which were originally posted to Soundcloud before being synched with the Episodes themselves and uploaded separately to Blip and [=YouTube=]. They all feature Chris Niosi himself, and often feature other members of the cast and crew.
* CastingGag: In episode 2, a character who is identified primarily as the sister of another character is introduced. She ''is'' the sister of none other than (the RealLife) Kirbopher, Alison Fanelli - also known as Ellen from ''Series/TheAdventuresOfPeteAndPete''.

* CelebrityVoiceActor: Unlike most of the rest of the cast, Jafari is not a voice actor by trade, though he ''was'' chosen because of the fake Noo Yawk accent he sometimes puts on in [=JonTron=] videos.

* TheDanza: Like his creator, the character Kirbopher's username is Kirbopher, and his real name is (probably) Christopher.

* TheOtherDarrin: Although the five main characters (and Rockoon) [[RoleReprise reprised their roles]] from the 2011 webseries for the [[TheOriginalDarrin demo,]] it was sadly announced on June 15th, 2021 that [[TheOtherDarrin they will be recast for the final release of the game]] due to both expressing the game being a separate continuity from the series and because of the aforementioned events above.
* ShoutOut:
** The Orange Island area is named after the Orange Islands from Pokémon's second season.
*** On a more meta level, the area itself resembles the Rainbow Resort area of Kirby's Adventure, which was the name of the website that Kindarspirit's namesake was the admin of.

* CreatorBacklash: [[Creator/LittleKuriboh Martin Billany]] admitted on August 9, 2023 that he refused to reprise his role as Nylocke for the final game due to wishing to disassociate himself from projects where Blake Swift also voiced in for personal reasons between them and because he was uncomfortable working with Niosi again. This resulted not only led [[TheOtherDarrin the entire main cast getting recasted]] but it led Billany to [[RoleEndingMisdemeanor retiring from professional voice acting]]. He only agreed to voice Sir Maximore in hopes of the original cast returning in some capacity of the game, which did not happen.

* IKnewIt: It turns out that [[spoiler: Kirbopher and Zetto are controlled by the same player]]. This was a popular fan theory (just check out [[WMG/{{TOME}} the WMG page]] for proof) which was finally confirmed in the season one finale.

* TheOtherDarrin: Although the five main characters (and Rockoon) [[RoleReprise reprised their roles]] from the 2011 webseries for the [[TheOriginalDarrin demo,]] it was sadly announced on June 15th, 2021 that [[TheOtherDarrin they will be recast for the final release of the game.]]

* TalkingToHimself: Happens a few times due to the limited cast, most notably with Kirbopher and Zetto [[spoiler: (who are not the [[TwoAliasesOneCharacter same person]] here like in the reboot]]).

* RelationshipVoiceActor: Most of the cast in TOME have also appeared in ''VideoGame/DustAnElysianTail'', the result of that game's casting and voice director, Deven Mack, also assisting with the casting and direction of TOME.
** Creator/LittleKuriboh is the creator of WebVideo/YuGiOhTheAbridgedSeries, and [=ShadyVox=] and Kirbopher are two collaborators on that series.
** Creator/BrycePapenbrook, Creator/YuriLowenthal, AND Creator/MonaMarshall being in Season 2. They've all voiced Franchise/DotHack protagonists, [[Manga/DotHackLegendOfTheTwilight Shuugo]], [[VideoGame/DotHackGU Haseo]], and [[VideoGame/DotHackR1Games Kite]] respectively. WordOfGod even revealed it was an intentional tribute to ''Franchise/DotHack'' since it's one of the franchises that inspired TOME.

** Averted, surprisingly enough. Even though the cast is filled with a roster of incredibly talented and versatile voice actors, each of them plays only one character. [[spoiler: Or rather, one ''player'' - characters who are controlled by the same player share their voice actor. This was one of the earliest hints that Zetto and Kirbopher were one and the same - both were voiced by Chris Niosi. Zetto and SOFDTI were also credited as having been played by other actors than the ones who played Kirbopher and Gamecrazed respectively, before [[TheReveal their respective reveals.]] ]]
** This [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=ad-diA2K7nM promotional video]]. for Kirbopher's panel, premiering a new TOME episode at Kamicon, starts with [[Creator/LittleKuriboh Yami Yugi]], introducing Kirbopher, and failing at pronouncing Kirbopher's name correctly. Then Nylocke drops in to try to help! Hilarity ensues.

* ShoutOut: If you weren't expecting the game to have several shout-outs to the series' previous iterations, as well as it's direct influences, the works of the alumni involved and even real-life pop-culture callouts, it's going to be a real hard for a hit and miss.
** The gameplay and controls for the game was directly influenced on Super Mario RPG.

Martin Billany was actually considered for the role of Thorment, but Niosi decided to give him the role of Nylocke due to fitting the character so well (the role of Thorment eventually went to Harry Partridge). Jessi Nowack, who played Hyprelynx, was the first runner-up for the role of Flamegirl, and apparently only narrowly lost the part to Anna Kingsley. Other contenders for Flamegirl were Creator/ApphiaYu and Creator/KiraBuckland, both of whom got supporting parts later in the series as Whyti and Foreva. Finally, Neomutant was going to be played by Hans van Harken, but had to be replaced by Chris Guerrero at the last second because Harken became unavailable for the role.

* NotableOriginalMusic: After ''TTA,'' which primarily ripped songs from various video game and anime OSTs, the music for TOME is almost entirely original, with a few guest tracks used with permission from various artists.

Kajmaster Kajet and The Living Tombstone return to compose the music for [[TheLostWoods Edodes Woods]] and [[GraffitiTown Telluria City]], respectively, while Plasterbrain and Ccrusherp have been brought on to score [[PalmtreePanic Orange Island]] and [[CrystalLandscape Morganite Valley]]. Interestingly, the genders of these composers match the sexes of each region's respective Netking, since Rubirules has been given a GenderFlip.
