** The first two gods released for ''Smite''[='=]s 10-year anniversary were added specifically to [[PromotedToPlayable Promote to Playable]] two characters deeply ingrained in the game's history. The first, Surtr, has been Conquest mode's strongest BonusBoss since open beta, with his design and kit heavily referencing his many in-game versions over the years. The second, Martichoras, is the realization of the Manticore, a Training mode dummy from closed beta that had become a fan favorite, even getting an April Fool's God Reveal in 2016.

* AsHimself: Voicing themselves as crossover characters are Music/{{Slipknot}} members Alessandro Venturella and Michael Pfaff, and (ex-)WebVideo/{{VShojo}} {{Virtual YouTuber}}s Ironmouse, Veibae, Nyanners, Silvervale, WebVideo/KsonOnAir and Froot.

* DisownedAdaptation: WesternAnimation/InvaderZim's canonical and unionized voice actor Creator/RichardStevenHorvitz was [[https://archive.is/qohez unpleased]] with Hi-Rez hiring solely non-union actors and consequently recasting his character on that fact.

In a broader sense, [=McBride=] also replaces Benjamin Helms, who last voiced the character in ''VideoGame/NicktoonsMLB''. Azula was similarly recast, going from Creator/GreyDeLisle to Creator/MeganShipman. Iroh is voiced by Corey Yee instead of Greg Baldwin, who played him in Book Three of the original series and in ''WesternAnimation/TheLegendOfKorra'' following the passing of his original actor, Creator/{{Mako}}.

** Creator/JanetVarney also returned to voice [[WesternAnimation/TheLegendOfKorra Korra]].

*** The five Nickelodeon characters that joined ''Smite'' in 2022 are all voiced by different actors instead of their original/current ones--also making this the first time that [[WesternAnimation/RockosModernLife Rocko]], [[WesternAnimation/InvaderZim Zim]], and [[WesternAnimation/MyLifeAsATeenageRobot Jenny Wakeman]] aren't voiced by their original actors. Matt Cowlrick takes over the role of Rocko from Creator/CarlosAlazraqui, [[WesternAnimation/TheRenAndStimpyShow Powdered Toast Man]] is played by Michael Berger rather than Creator/DavidKaye (who voiced the character earlier in ''VideoGame/NickelodeonAllStarBrawl''), and Creator/SeanChiplock plays WesternAnimation/DannyPhantom rather than either his original voice actor Creator/DavidKaufman (who also returned for ''All-Star Brawl'') or Creator/KeithFerguson (who played him in ''Nicktoons MLB''). Andrew Russell takes over Creator/RichardStevenHorvitz's role as Zim, and Creator/JennyYokobori succeeds Creator/JaniceKawaye in the role of Jenny.

** As one of the very few non-union Nickelodeon voice actors, Creator/JanetVarney also returned to voice [[WesternAnimation/TheLegendOfKorra Korra]].

** When Sol was first datamined, fans were confused over if this referred to either the Roman god or the Norse goddess. Oddly enough, the latter (who the datamining was referring to) has a more unique name: Sunna.[[note]]Granted, Website/TheOtherWiki states that this is Germanic in origin, but it's still said to have been a synonym in Norse.[[/note]]
** Jing Wei's father, the Flame Emperor Yan Di, shares the same name/title as Xing Tian's lord. It's up for debate whether or not this is the same person in both tales, and this isn't explored in the game proper.
** Speaking of, it isn't mentioned in her lore, but before her reincarnation Jing Wei was named Nuwa. Unlike her father, she is explicitly different than the Nu Wa used in-game.
** In Ravana's lore, there's a mention of a Monkey King that failed to stop his rampage. For the record, this is not Sun Wukong (who's titled Monkey King in the game), but instead Hanuman, who's also another badass monkey in the Hindu mythology.
** Steel Samurai Susano. Just another skin of Susano, or Susano becoming [[Franchise/AceAttorney the Warrior of Neo Olde Tokyo, fighting for great justice?]] Good luck not thinking of Steel Samurai's theme tune whenever you use this skin.
** When you say Pele, is it the Goddess of Volcanoes? Or is it the Brazilian soccer legend? (though that one has an accent: Pelé)
