** Many fans already suspected that [[spoiler: Ethan is a Molded mutant]], so the reveal in the game doesn't come off as a twist as much as it is a confirmation. [[spoiler: The ''real'' twist, however, is that Ethan has been '''dead''' since the beginning of ''Biohazard'', killed when Jack Baker stomped him in the face after his "Welcome to the family, son" punch, and the Mold is the only thing keeping him around.]]

** While a lot of the fans genuinely thought ''Resident Evil'' was going in a supernatural folklore direction with its bestiary in ''Village'', there were some that didn't buy into the possibility for one minute and stuck with the belief that the monsters were going on to be some kind of bio-mutants. Those skeptics turned out to be completely right when it turned out in the end [[spoiler: all of the monsters in the Village are a result of Miranda's experimenting with the Mold.]]

** Late in Shadow of Rose, [[spoiler:when Rose looks around the Winters' house, she can find a plush die that Ethan bought for her as a baby. A few of the same plush dice can be found in the orphanage in "VideoGame/ResidentEvil2Remake".]]

** After Lady Dimitrescu became an [[EvilIsSexy instant fanservice icon]] shortly after her reveal, Capcom's reaction was to thank fans on their official Twitter account for their interest in her and start releasing factoids about her height and shoe size.

* RefittedForSequel: The game has ''massive'' similarities to ''Resident Evil 4's'' cancelled ''Castle'' and ''Hookman'' iterations. He's also called "[[Series/BreakingBad Walter White]]" due to his last name being exactly the same as White's alias.
** Creator/KarlMarx for the large hammer-wielding Lycan Urias, due to his hair and beard resembling that of Marx.

** [[VideoGame/MegaMan2 Air Man]] for the Sturm enemy, because its "face" is a giant, rotating airplane propeller, just like how Air Man has a giant fan for a face.
** "Fish Boy" or "Fish Man" for Lord Moreau, because his OneWingedAngel form is an aquatic monster with a fish's tail. His human form also has webbed fingers/feet and he has a fish's tail underneath his coat.
** The Duke is almost uniformly referred to as "[[PhraseCatcher a bro]]" by players for his chummy and helpful nature.
