One of the game's biggest unused ideas involved Miranda making a pact with the Covenant Prophets as part of a vendetta against the Chief for [[spoiler:her father's death]], which would have involved him having a bomb forcibly welded to his armor as part of a joint human-Covenant suicide attack against the Gravemind. Many of the more antagonistic ideas were attributed to Bungie co-founder Jason Jones, who admitted Miranda's earliest portrayal came out of a particularly bad breakup experienced during Halo 2's development.

Natter, and a case of trying to tie a future plot development to cut content from years prior. In an alternate timeline where they went the Chief/Miranda shipping route, it's probable that they wouldn't have made Miranda the daughter of Halsey.
