The best we have in terms of an idea that it's been acknowledged is [[https://twitter.com/egoraptor/status/888457367074910209 Arin Hanson, Joseph's voice actor and one of the producers of the game, giving a series of tweets, poking fun at people discovering "Joseph's Ending," and how there's "no special ending," the day after the data-mine discovery,]] and [[https://twitter.com/notquitefrodo/likes Jared Rosen, the writer of Joseph's character, liking a total of one tweet on a silly fan art someone made, on August 1st, 2017, in regards to the chaos in the fandom in trying to decipher the secret ending.]] The idea that it was confirmed non-canon/scrapped/future DLC is so prevalent in the fanbase, it's almost impossible to make a post in regards to the secret ending without someone mentioning this.

* PlayingAgainstType: Dan Avidan, known on ''WebVideo/GameGrumps'' and ''Music/NinjaSexParty'' for being cheerful, upbeat, and goofy (both for how he normally is, and any characters he plays), plays the very terse and gruff Robert. Subverted if you compare it to his "emo teen Danny" character from one Game Grumps merch commercial.

* UrbanLegendOfZelda: When dataminers looked at the game's code, they found an unused ending that seemingly revealed that Joseph is secretly a demonic cult leader. Rumors immediately sprang up that this was the hidden true ending that the entire game was {{Foreshadowing}}, and that only a specific set of choices after getting every other ending could earn it. The rumors only stopped after a developer clarified on Twitter that the data was for a potential Halloween DLC, and was therefore both unobtainable and non-canon.

This angered some fans of the game, who felt that it was transphobic to genderbend Damien who is a canonical transman in the game, as well as that genderbending is inherently transphobic in its own right, and that it was fatphobic that the genderbent version of Brian was drawn a lot [[HollywoodPudgy thinner]] than the [[BigBeautifulMan original]]. Unfortunately some of these fans got so angry they started sending death threats to the artist. The main reasons cited is that they felt genderbending is inherently trans-phobic, Damien was genderbent despite being a transman in the game, and it was fatphobic that the genderbent version of Brain was drawn a lot thinner than the original. * WhyFandomCantHaveNiceThings: The developers were not pleased with the fandom when artist [[https://www.patreon.com/ohnips Nips]] drew a GenderFlip fanart of the Hots Dads as Hot Moms and was harassed with hate messages and death threats by some fans who accused Nips as transphobic due to InsaneTrollLogic that anyone drawing genderbent art were transphobic despite there was nothing negative about the picture.
