Old Shame is In-Universe only

* CreatorBacklash:
** This is Creator/BradDourif's least favourite film in the series.
** Don Mancini said that this was his least favorite entry in the series, adding that he ran out of ideas after the second film. He elaborated further in 2013 stating that he was not pleased with the casting, particularly with Jeremy Sylvers and Dakin Matthews as Tyler and Colonel Cochrane respectively; he felt that the former was too old for the role and the latter was not the "Creator/RLeeErmey" archetype he was hoping for.

* ProductionPosse: Terry Wills, who plays the ill-fated garbage man, had another a bit part as a photographer in another Bender/Kirschner production a year earlier in television film ''The Dreamer of Oz''. Had Creator/JohnRitter been cast in this installment as noted in WhatCouldHaveBeen below, it would have reunited Wills and Ritter, as Ritter also appeared the the said TV film.

*** Chucky attempting to perform his final ritual on an ''outdoor'' rollercoaster(somewhat nonsensically combined with the dark ride in the final version), where Chucky scares a nerdy patron into accidentally clotheslining--and decapitating--himself via a tunnel.

** In addition to the scene featuring Ritter, earlier drafts also included scenes such as:
*** Chucky killing Sullivan not just ForTheEvulz but making it more motivated due to Sullivan indirectly trapping him in an AndIMustScream state for eight years(Chucky's head is already rebuilt by the time the story starts).
*** Tyler, named Johnson at this point, getting picked up by two cops on the side of a road instead of him heading to the carnival security guard for help, indirectly leading the officers to getting shot in the head by Chucky.
*** Andy and De Silva losing Johnson and Chucky in a crowd of kids who have their own Good Guy dolls.
*** A much more elaborate final set-piece that only ''begins'' in the dark ride, where Chucky gets stabbed by motion-triggered metal spikes(rather than hit with a scythe as in the final version). After this, he scares a group of bullies who think he's AllPartOfTheShow by pulling a knife on them.
*** Chucky attempting to perform his final ritual on an ''outdoor'' rollercoaster(somewhat nonsensically combined with the dark ride in the final version), where Chucky scares a nerdy patron into accidentally clotheslining--and decapitating--himself via a tunnel.
*** Chucky's death was significantly different; Andy shoots him into the path of the coaster's train. It then launches the killer doll into a brick wall so hard that he explodes.
*** A happier ending where Andy and De Silva depart the carnival midway with Johnson, rather than Andy being taken into police custody.

* OldShame: FranchiseKiller: The series went dormant for seven years after the film met diminishing returns, the killer Chucky having lost his edge and the film losing the mix of BlackComedy and frights that characterized the first two films; even series creator Don Mancini sees this as the worst film in the franchise.

* DeletedScene: In a deleted scene that is seen during some television airings of the film, Tyler is seen playing an Atari Lynx portable video game system (which has been modified to mask the name of the system) while riding on the bus to the Military School. Appropriately, he is playing the Military Jet Fighting / Flying Simulation game "Blue Lightning". He is later seen in the theatrical cut of the film playing (presumably) this same game while waiting to get his hair cut by the barber, although the video game's screen is not shown in this later scene.

** Creator/JohnRitter was originally supposed to appear as a security guard at the Good Guy Doll Factory in a sequence where some kids sneak into the factory and discuss the Chucky myth. Ritter later appeared in ''Film/BrideOfChucky'' in a supporting role.
