* ParentsAsPeople: Of all people, [[spoiler:"The Pirate King" Gol D. Roger]]. The Marineford Misery arc shows that he truly does love [[spoiler:Ace]], but is also bitterly and painfully aware that all the emotional anguish and suffering his son went through over the course of his childhood was because of the choices he made before said son was born. It's the only thing he's ever truly regretted, as he makes clear when [[spoiler:he begs Luffy from ''beyond the grave'' to save his son]].
